the longer you're on here you'll know I have a habit of doing these types of a threads every year. as an advanced CM it was either gonna be gerrard, scholes or lampard at the end of the day and I just went with gerrard :)

    Alli/Gerrard comparison is way off.

It took Gerrard 60 games to reach 6 premier league goals.
Alli's done it in 21 games. Far superior :whistle

Every passing game he looks more like a Frank Lampard type player than Steven Gerrard.

The thread was somewhat tongue-in-cheek when I made it

fair play. But I think the Lampard comparison is very much more than tongue in cheek.

    Is Lookman another Dele Ali?

Had a discussion in pub prior to Everton signing him. Everyone said he was too expensive for the risk whereas Ali for £5M was a snip

The Lookman goal today helped my argument

Lookman will score goals if he's given opportunities in the first team, no doubt.

Way too early to say after 5 minutes and a goal that was pretty much gifted to him (still well taken though), but if he does go on to make an impact similar to Alli, we may see the start of a lot more clubs beginning to focus on young talent down the divisions, rather than expensive foreign imports. Aside from anything else, investment wise it's one of the best methods to make money.

Much more comparable to Jamie Vardy. Already 24, worked his way up from non league scoring goals at every level.

He may do a job but he isn't a youngster with world class potential like the Alli / Lookman / Stones type signings from the football league.

Probably a bit to soon to be throwing that around with Lookman isn't it?

Replace world class with top, if you wish.

I'm not really commenting on the level of potential of each player, just the type of signings they are.

Yeah that's fair enough, not sure Stones fits though, if you'd have said Holding or Gomez I'd have understood x

I think Stones fits perfectly. I'm talking about his transfer to Everton, not City.
