I heard it was something like that. I think my aunt was with a company 10 years and she got 10 weeks wages. Poor really.

under employment law its a week for every year, unless you have been somewhere for less than 2 years. Then your employer does not have to give you anything unless they are feeling nice

This doesn't apply in your case as you are so young, but employers won't, or at least don't have to, pay for more than 20 years service. And yes its a week for every year you have worked.

    You having problems at work?

I think it worked out as months wage for every year in service. Wasn't an accurate figure, just a rough estimation. A couple of other considerations would have come into it. Not a bad offer though.

It's half a weeks pay for every year you worked under the age of 22, a weeks pay for years worked between 22 and 41, and a week and a half for each year worked aged over 41. Can be capped at £350 for a weeks pay though if u earn more than that in a week. Need 2 years service as well to qualify for redundancy payment. You'd also get notice... a week for every completed year of service unless there's something longer in your contract. And any outstanding holidays.

They do count the first two years... it's just that you need to have two years qualifying service. There's a difference!
