Hi. Having one tomorrow. I've had one before but tomorrow they are having to sedate me. Just wondering if anyone on here has had one under sedation and could tell me what it's like? Apparently you aren't fully asleep?

    TIA.

I had one in May but like you I wasn't sedated. The bloke in the opposite cubicle from me had just been brought back and he'd had the sedation, he was awake but completely out of it. He looked a bit better when I came back from having mine done half an hour later because he was telling me about it, but I was up, dressed and out the hospital while he was still recovering. They make you drowsy but don't knock you out completely like they would for an operation.

You’ll be asleep enough to not know what’s going I’m sure.

In the meantime grow some testicles just incase.

    **** sake.

I had the throat spray the first time and smashed it. No problems at all. Went to do it last week and they just couldn't do it. My gag wouldn't allow it. No idea why. Was hoping sedation would knock me out. :(

Had an endoscopy a year or so ago. Read about it online and thought it'd be a piece of piss. Was offered the sedation and thought that would be unnecessary. How wrong was I.

Couldn't catch my breath or control my gag reflex and was sick twice. Had the nurse stroking my barnet throughout like a poorly pooch. Got up and walked out of there with my tail between my legs after the longest 5/10 mins of my life, shaking like a shitting dog and wiping chunder out of my 'tache.

I'd 100% have the sedative if I need to have another. Turned out to be one of the most traumatic moments of my life.

@Shane The sedative they use btw is Midazolam if you'd feel more comfortable researching before you make the decision.

I use it in my job for people who suffer with bad seizures and they're just really tired and spaced for a bit after administration. Nothing to worry about

I think you're as good as KO'd without being unconscious. You certainly won't give a shit or have any apprehension. Probably won't even remember it afterwards.

This is one thing I'd absolute dread having done :( the second anything other than food or drink touches the back of my throat I'm gagging pretty bad.

    Good luck Shane lad.

That's why you need the drugs!

My dad got it last year and was sedated. Said it was fine, although he felt a bit raw the next day. However the sedative was strong. I walked him back to the car and was opening his door to get him in. Turned around to find him in a hedge

The last time i had one about 10 years ago i had a plastic bit with a hole in it placed in my mouth and the tube went down easily, 25 years ago when i had stomach ulcers it was put up your nose and you had to swallow it down now that was f*cking horrific! :eeek

Shane, as discussed yesterday.. I've always been awake, i just want in and out of the hospital as quick as i can hence why i don't get sedated.

From speaking to people in the past that has been sedated, they say they don't feel any pain or discomfort, they are aware of what is happening but do not feel a thing.. and after a few hours you can't really remember the procedure taking place.

    Try not to worry bro.
