he's there as a left back where he played all season for Man City and as someone who can also cover midfield

Loftus-Cheek will surprise a lot of people this summer. He's fooking quality.

we don't have any creativity, we're talking about Jack Wheelchair and Shelvey not Hoddle or Gazza in their prime, he's obviously looking at using the wing backs in attack

Walker isn’t going as a RB imo.

and if Lallana had played more than about 20 mins all season he'd be in the squad

MOTD showed recently how little defensive work Shelvey puts in sometimes and he also scores few goals. He has a lot of potential but I don't think I'd what him in the England squad just yet as I don't think we could rely on him with our backs against the wall. Delph plays for the record breaking champions. Not sure how that is a bad thing?!

Who cares? If we need one player to play a killer pass I would back Shelvey over any other player we have tbh.

I didn't mention Jack and no Shelvey is no Hoddle but he's the closest we've got atm.

I agree about his defensive shortcomings, I wasn't talking about him starting or playing in games where we are expecting to be on the back foot, rather in games like Iceland when teams park the bus and a bit of creativity is required.

Agreed he's the only one in that midfield I think will shine.

Everyone would care if he lost the ball and didn't bother to help out the defence, causing a goal to be conceded, like he did against Bournemouth. Plus his passing accuracy is supposedly not as good as others and he only has 2 assists this season. I personally don't trust him in a high pressure game.

This. Walker going as RCB. Young and Delph offer versatility.

Let's be honest there's not many other players that would get in over what's been picked. There's not much depth anymore and the majority of what we can pick aren't world class, we have maybe one player who is in that category, then about 3 or 4 in the second tier, the rest are third tier players. I'd say that's not the quality you win competitions with but no one predicted Greece or Portugal.

Decent look line up that, I'd like to see Sterlin Vardy and Kane all on the pitch at once with the form they are all in.

I'd be tempted to go for a formation similar to City's in the opening games and go all out i mean its tunisia and panama is there really a need to play 3 centre backs?

    Pickford

    Walker Stones Maguire Rose

    Henderson

    Sterling RLC Lingard Rashford

    Kane

No point playing Vardy with Ali and Kane in the team they only pass to each other.

    Butland

    Jones Stones Maguire

    Walker Henderson RLC Rose

    Sterling

    Kane Vardy

No chance it will happen though.

Abysmal midfield. I'm predicting on the basis Dier and Henderson don't play in the same team which I worry they will.

    Pickford
    Walker - Stones - Maguire - Rose
    Dier - RLC
    Sterling - Alli - Lingard
    Kane

Was Lallana on standby? I'd be finding a spot for him in that squad regardless of fitness.

Depressing when you realise it'll be Dier and Henderson rather than Dier or Henderson.

I am surprised that Southgate didn't consider giving Milner a call -- I'd say he has been the best English midfielder this season. Milner and Henderson have a good understanding in the centre of the park too.

Yeah standby for Lallana a bit of an insult considering the state of the standby list.
