Would be nice to see us win a tie over two legs it’s been a while
Seeded: Villareal, Dynamo Kiev, FC Braga, AC Milan, Atalanta, Lokomotiv Moscow, Viktoria Plzen, Arsenal, Red Bull Salzburg, Athletic Bilbao, Lazio, Zenit St Petersburg, CSKA Moscow, Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig, Sporting Lisbon
Unseeded: Astana, Partizan Belgrade, Ludogerets Razgrad, AEK Athens, Lyon, FC Copenhagen, Steaua Bucharest, Red Star Belgrade, Marseille, Ostersund, Nice, Real Sociedad, Napoli, Spartak Moscow, Celtic, Borussia Dortmund.
Arsenal can't play Red Star Belgrade but still plenty of winnable ties there.
Lots of winnable ties there and at 40/1 I’d fancy us as an each way bet
Ludogorets is the obvious choice here. Although Copenhagen is less travelling (I think). Astana, Partizan and Steaua are others but they are long distances to go.
Napoli is the huge one to avoid.
As for our performance, very nice. Seeing Jack at #10 was interesting, seemed to thrive. I still think his body is at greater risk playing there.
Dortmund set a "new record" (one you can't be proud of). Qualifying for the EL without a win and 2 points against Nikosia.
So that they are unseeded is "well earned". Normally they should be ashamed and give this place a more worthy candidate. Even Celtic got 3 points in a group of PSG, Bayern. OK not from those two but Anderlecht but at least 1 win (no offense to the Celtic fans).
And why is Leipzig seeded? It's their first ever season in European competition, they didn't earn merits before. I don't understand this UEFA seeding system (tbh I don't give a **** about it anyway.)
Think the 4 best 3rd place teams are seeded - the rest not.
Yeah that’s the case
Osterlunds for Arsenal. Not the best draw, not the worst either. However they have been on a bit of a special journey.
The real plus point for us is some of the other draws. Dortmund vs Atalanta, Celtic vs Zenit, Napoli vs RB Leipzig, Lyon vs Villarreal...some good teams will be going out.
Napoli vs Leipzig will be a cracker.

Got an English manager I think.
Have to admit that was my first thought when watching the draw. Both competitions have been pretty kind on the English clubs.
Some big names going out early can only benefit Arsenal, would be surprised if you're not in the last 16.
Never heard of them, you're on a hiding to nothing in that game, can't say I miss the Europa League!
2 crap teams in that tie. You should see how bad the Russian champions Spartak are, & Celtic are still Celtic.
They’re a small team in London.
Happy with that draw against astana
Rodgers might feel he has unfinished business there, we went out on away goals to them at this same stage in his first season with us thanks to wasteful finishing and a defensive howler. As ever!
So we have our trip to Osterlunds this week. I think the Europa has returned at a needed time for us, we need something to distract us from our woeful league form. But make no mistake, this will not be a stroll in the park, especially in Sweden. Temperatures of -4, a plastic pitch too and a team with absolutely nothing to lose.
Due to us exiting the FA Cup, we have no match this upcoming weekend so I'm hoping we'll be seeing a much stronger side.
Bellerin Koscielny Mustafi Monreal
Mkhitaryan Özil Iwobi
Lacazette is ruled out and PEA is cup tied.
So it's Ludogorets mk II.
Europa League Preview: Celtic – Zenit St. Petersburg
A preview of the Celtic v Zenit game written by myself in case there are any Celtic fans interested in knowing about their opponents tonight.
Will be an interesting game, Zenit have the better squad on paper but are coming into the game off a 3 month winter break so might be rusty. That said, Celtic have quite a number of injuries to their first team squad and based on this seasons results in Euro competition, Celtic Park is no longer the fortress it once was (Celtic drew with Rosenborg at home in CL qualifying and lost to Anderlecht). Going for a 1 goal Zenit win, though it will be tight
