Good win, I was very impressed with Anderlecht over the two games.

This should be a guaranteed trophy for MUFC really...

Depends how serious, we won't know that till he's had a scan but he rarely stays down so i'm not optimistic.

Rather have played Lyon over 2 legs but when you're this far in the competition it's just the aim to make it to the final. Bring it on

Memphis can't participate for Lyon in this Europa League. Cup tied after making a few appearances for us in the group stages.

Oh definitely, anyone would've failed with Sturridge & Suarez ahead of them considering the form they were in.

Europa League semifinal. Unknown territory for the club, never played at this stage before. There is now increased pressure on winning it with the way our most recent Premier League result went. Shouldn't have come to this scenario but the team only have themselves to blame.

We are still a draw magnet in the league that hasn't lost in a long time, nothing has changed there. But now injuries are really starting to pile up. Probably no regular center backs are going to be fit for the 1st leg with Bailly out. The return of Pogba and Mata's speedy recovery will definitely be a boost though. Safe to say the continental performances have been better than domestic ones, but the wastefulness was on display in the quarterfinal tie against Anderlecht. We were doing quite fine in the Europa League when it comes to converting chances until then, and that virus could strike again.

Celta Vigo are in really poor form in La Liga. Now on a run of three consecutive defeats, as well as four in the last five and seven in the last ten. Guaranteed mid-table finish for them, meaning they can only play European football (CL) next season if they win this competition. We have a guaranteed EL participation but considering our ambitions, both sides have the same motive here.

Despite the poor form they remain a threat, which they have been to the bigger sides on several occasions this season. Four goals scored in a home win against Barcelona (for a second season in a row), knocked out Real Madrid out of the Spanish Cup (beating them at the Bernabeu and drawing at home), while pushing them, Atletico, Valencia and Sevilla hard in the league at their grounds, missing out on a point due to a late goal in all of those games.

Thoughts? Can we take some kind of advantage going into the 2nd leg at home?

Everything depends on how many fit players we can muster. If we lose in Spain I can't see any way back for us. The lanky poodle will obviously play, but other than him who knows?

Would it be fair to say if we don't win this competition we are in trouble for a while yet?

Massive game Thursday. We simply won't keep a clean sheet at home so need an away goal, possibly 2

I wouldn't say a while, I just think Mourinho needs to hedge his bets next season. I abhor clubs who throw the Europa to qualify for the CL through league position but unfortunately, that's just the way it is.

Manchester United have been boosted by the return of several injured players on the eve of their Europa League semi-final first leg at Celta Vigo.

Defender Eric Bailly trained on Wednesday despite limping out of Sunday's draw with Swansea City.

Chris Smalling and Phil Jones took part having missed nine games with a knee injury and broken toe respectively.

Midfielder Paul Pogba returns from muscle fatigue, while Juan Mata could start after undergoing groin surgery.

Manager Jose Mourinho faced the prospect of fielding midfielder Michael Carrick or 19-year-old Axel Tuanzebe in central defence at Celta's Estadio de Balaidos, but either Jones or Smalling will now likely feature alongside Bailly.

United are bidding to win the Europa League for the first time and guarantee a place in next season's Champions League in the process.

This will be their first meeting with Celta, who sit 11th in La Liga and have lost their last three matches.

Mourinho's side, by contrast, are unbeaten in 11 matches in all competitions.

The second leg is on 11 May at Old Trafford. The winners meet Ajax or Lyon at the Friends Arena in Stockholm on Wednesday, 24 May.

    Celta Vigo v Manchester United

Got a bad feeling about this one . . . :ohnoes

I wouldn't mind it as much if they qualified, but they never do. Villa and Everton under O'Neill and Moyes were good enough to win it, but instead chose to concentrate on finishing 6th instead.

Ajax crushed Lyon in the 1st leg in Amsterdam, 4-1. Hopefully the semifinal is the only time they peaked, because we are in trouble if we go through to the final and face that level of an opponent. :ashamed
