Not a good night for the two favourites. Napoli and Leicester sitting 3rd and 4th in their group
Might all be down to West Ham at this rate for British interest in this.
Been watching the Celtic game they've been alright I think but two very poor errors and they're 2-0 down.
Runners up now play against the CL dropouts for a place in the last 16, so these results matter quite a lot more than in years gone by.
VAR working well there.
Ref right not to give a penalty to Rapid.
Don't rule out Man United yet!
Brendan Rodgers' 25th European competition proper away game last night... his record is 5 wins, 6 draws, 14 losses.
For a manager of his quality, it really is strange how much he struggles with European football. I don't mean this as a dig Leicester fans, it is just a glaring weakness that he hasn't managed to overcome since he managed Liverpool. 20% win record is really poor.
Think your answer maybe in your post chief.........(runs way quickly before Leicester fans arrive.....)....
he has the Pep disease, he over thinks thinks and can't see the bleeding obvious at times
I’m not sure he over thinks as much as underestimates. We’re playing 2nd string sides, we did the same last year when we went out. Seems like a similar stance to the Carabao cup that most sides don’t put out their best until the late stages, and aren’t that arsed if that means going out early.
Thing is we’re not troubling anyone this year for a top 4 spot so if CL is the seasons goal then this is our best bet, as much as cup competitions can be.
You did a good job strengthening the squad, so I'm sure why he doesn't go for the Europa. Your best XI is one of the best in the tournament.
This isn't just an issue of what he is doing at Leicester though is it? So cannot just be put down to playing weaker sides. It is an issue he had with Liverpool and Celtic also.
Perhaps he struggles with the scheduling of it in terms of preparing the sides? I find it perplexing and it is the sort of record that will stop him managing a top 4 club again imo. Or should do.
I presume Celtic are playing now as Rangers are at home on Thursday and they don't want this to clash with the Champions league games later.
They've prioritsed being able to put this game on TV at a different time to the Champions League sides, to match going fans.
Nothing new, but absolutely horrendous behaviour from an organisation that tried to portray itself as the savour of traditional football through the Super League saga. They aren't any better, they're just the ones with the control at the moment and their intentions are exactly the same with zero consideration of anyone going to the game today.
Amazed the attendance is so high, I guess some people have more flexible arrangements with work but there's no chance I'd ever be able to go to a mid week 3.30pm and I doubt I'm the only one.
Beers in, antidepressants taken, not looking forward to this one bit. Come on City at least make a fooking fight of it.
why ae we playing today instead of Thursday?
Presumably because Lokomotiv Moscow are at home tomorrow. UEFA don't like same-city teams playing at the same time / same day.
