Is this season the first time a team will receive a bye from Round 1, receiving the prize fund for winning as well? I know previously there's been a 'lucky loser' with one of the sides losing in R1 advancing to R2, but not sure if anybody has advanced to R2 without kicking a ball?

Either way it would be lovely to be the last team in the hat Monday night :)

It's the only way we're getting to round 2, so Southend will have that lucky last ball, cheers.

Would a bye into the second round be more useful to a non-league team (lower than the Conference) than say a home tie against Sunderland or Ipswich in the first round?

    Financially speaking.

Went to Chichester. Lowest ranked team in the draw so a nice financial boost for them.

Yeah just seen - came down to them and Peterborough. One of the highest placed sides in the draw.

Guaranteed prize money and a better chance at maybe finding their way to the Third round.

Dover away - joy. Not a long journey for me but right now I wouldn't take us to beat Dover's youth side so I don't exactly look forward to going there.

I'd imagine so. You get the £36,000 prize money for 'winning' in the first round and then you, at least, get half the gate receipts from the second round too. Losing in the first round at Sunderland or Ipswich away might be a close call financially but depends what half their likely gate would be worth.

I suspect Chippenham will prefer this even if the likes of Sunderland away in the first round would have been worth more. Guaranteed prize money in the bank, a lot of small teams will be eliminated in the first round so a greater chance in theory of drawing one of the bigger League sides. And just one win away from the Third Round and the chance to draw a Premier League side.

I think they'll be wanting either a Sunderland away type of tie for the money in the Second Round, or a beatable small club at home to give them a good shot at the Third Round.

If the tie had been Chichester v Sunderland then they'd have rather had that, firstly that's a guarenteed TV game and it's something like £100-£200k for the TV appearance. Away for them would have been even better because again it's pretty much guarenteed TV game and then they get half of the gate which at worse would be 30,000. So if you can pick, you do that because those sorts of figures prop a tier 8 club up for about 2-3 years.

All just a lottery though, although Sunderland away was just as likely as the bye. The bye gets them £36k and into the next round where they have another chance of a 'big' game. Again if the likes of Portsmouth, Ipswich, Sunderland get through they then have a better chance of drawing them and again is pretty much a nailed on TV game, 100% if it's against local side Portsmouth.

Another goal from Ola against some London club who think they’re St Pauli and conveniently on the telly with a fat payout from the BBC*

    Fair few replays .

Crazy game at Walsall - 2 red cards and a 97th minute equaliser for Darlington who had been 1 up with 5 to go !

Have to say I feared the worst when we made 10 changes against Lincoln’s first team, especially considering what they did to us the last time we met in the cup. Did ok to get the draw in the end, although it makes you wonder why we played the second team when we haven’t got a proper game for 2 weeks and it lands us with an inconvenient replay.

How long before we have a manager who takes this competition remotely seriously? Love Lambert but Christ, we haven’t won in 15 attempts, would be nice if we had a go at least.

Played a strong team against a well organized Stevenage who had 1 shot on goal all day & scored from it .

A Maddison sublime effort saved the day , their goalie Farman the man of the match , made 3/4 great saves 2nd half which was a weird experience with all 4 floodlights going off , then they come on & lights in the stands went off , then the tanoy man was intermittent on what was going on resulting in a 15 minute delay meaning being in the 2nd row of seats behind the goal getting wetter for an extra 15 mins.

2,981 crowd with around 1,600 from Posh , only 45 minutes on the train , at least we're in the draw , no shocks yesterday , surprised by that !

Might go to the replay if it’s not silly money. Less said about yesterday the better.
