So like myself - plenty of you will have a list of songs as long as your arm of songs that nearly made your top 10. Perhaps they should have been in your too 10 but the grey matter couldn't recall them at the time. Here's a few of mine...

Considered all of the aforementioned. The last song on this list is an incredibly powerful song.

Me, too. And all of those you mentioned here are great ones worthy of my top10 too.

I only want to name here two songs that didn't make it into my final top 10. For obvious reasons, because they are in german. I'm a shy boy and don't want that everybody just knows what I have chosen ;). Nah, seriously, I didn't choose them because nobody here would listen to a song that isn't in english.

Here's #1: Rammstein: Mutter (Mother). I simply love Rammstein. Charismatic singer, Till Lindemann (btw: Same age as myself)

and #2: Unheilig : Geboren um zu leben (Unhallowed/Unholy : Born to live). Another charismatic singer, called "Der Graf" (The Earl).

This will be an even tougher list than the top 10 tbh

    The Logical Song - Supertramp
Whole of the Moon - The Waterboys
Night Boat to Cairo - Madness
    Ghost Town - The Specials
Games without Frontiers - Peter Gabriel
    Africa - Toto
    Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush
Who Can it be Now - Men at Work
Home by the Sea (and Second Home by the Sea afterwards) - Genesis
    Incubus - Marillion

**** it I give up, these are just the first songs that come into my head out of a few hundred "favourites"...I could literally name 200 or so that are of equal "favouritism"

Such an indecisive person is me :(

Can't say I've ever listened to any Rammstein, but my niece always raves about them.

Can’t believe looking back I didn’t pick anything by The Beatles, Neil Young, Nick Cave or The Smith’s.

    Ten songs just wasn’t enough...

@Dirk you should have put some Rammstein in. I quite like a few of theirs. The weird thing is that I found a video for Sonne once that had the English subtitles on and it seemed weirder actually seeing what they were singing than it is listening to it in German (if that makes sense).

    That makes perfectly sense.
I quite like Sonne, too. Nice "adaption" of the Schneewittchen (Snow white) theme here with Rammstein as dwarfs (or is it dwarves?) :D

    edit:

Ah Kate Bush. Loved her. Beautiful woman, beautiful voice. Her duet with Peter Gabriel "Don't give up" gives me still goosebumps after 30 years and thousand times of hearing it (and I see you mentioned her other duet with Peter "Games without frontiers", too. Good man, good man, KK)

:D, Me too. I'm the master of the puppets "Maybe or maybe not?"

Kudos to your niece. Give her my regards. She has a good music taste

It's 24 minutes long and not once does it outstay its welcome and get boring, incredible song.

Some bands not being on there at all surprised me - one song that would be in my top 10 if asked now is this one from Weezer:
