I hope Lamps is given time to get the squad playing the attacking, pressing, high energy style most people want to see. The club might well lose out on a top 4 spot having said that, and not getting another striker in, as well as refusing to play Giroud is very strange. Kepa? There's something not right there, but he's a world class player.

As for the owner, given the new 'Unexplained Wealth Orders' there is a real chance that the club could be seized. Don't laugh. When Abramovich was asked to explain his massive wealth, he refused and cancelled his visa application. The likes of Jim Ratcliffe, who can explain his wealth would then have to buy the club from the government. The owner should sell asap if he's got any sense.

I commented that Giroud should be playing a while back, and to be fair, with Batshuayi's abysmal performance against Utd where he showed poor positioning and very poor finishing, Giroud was eventually brought on and scored very quickly!

Lamps has made a mistake there by not playing him, and the team could be several points better off if Lamps had put aside his reluctance to play experienced, older players. Batshuayi should have been sold a long time ago. He was disrespectful to Conte when he went out on loan, and that verbal and stupid disrespect (along with Willian's negative and disrespectful comments) were factors that cost the club £26 million in compensation.

I also said that Christensen is no warrior. To be fair, he has stepped up, but I'm still not convinced he has what it takes for the very physical, fast PL in the long term at the highest level. But credit to him for trying to step up and use some controlled aggression. Respect.

Plenty of media speculation of a summer clear out. Thoughts anyone?

    Summer clear out:

    Kepa out, Oblak, in

    Batshuayi, out

    Barkley, probably out

    Emerson, out

Alonso, stay! brilliant attacking play when playing with wing backs

    Zouma, probably out

Jorginho, should stay, unless he wants out. Then could cash in for around £60 million

Abraham, cash in on him. He's never going to be fast or sharp enough, and Liverpool showed that the Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch, Christian Benteke big, slowish striker route does not work. Could get £40 million + for him. He is never going to fit with the very fast interchange play that Mount, Hudson Odoi and now Zihech can bring.

Zihech looks a very good buy, and Lamps should be given time to build a fast, exciting, disciplined team.

Willian. At his best, brilliant, but is too inconsistent. Not worth paying a huge salary for a player who could have stepped up to Hazard's level week in, week out, but hasn't.

Pedro. Will want a last, big pay day and that's not going to be Chelsea

I doubt Oblak would leave Athletico tbh.

Kepa last night against Liverpool, brilliant. Lamps is doing a great job as Mr Motivator. Billy Gilmour? What a star! Credit to Lamps for having the courage to do what the Mourhino's of this world would never have the b***s to do. Hear, hear!

Squad signings. Who is in and who is out?

    1. A rock at the back is a must. The club have lost JT, Cahill and Luiz over recent seasons and they were all big leaders and proven winners. Rudiger is a first choice player but he is not that leader. Christensen does not have the steel for the PL at centre back, but could be useful as a holding midfielder. Zouma makes too many mistakes and Tomori would be better off at full back because of his pace.

    2. Left back. Palmieri needs to move on and Alonso is a great wing back when it's three at the back. With four at the back, a left back signing is a must.

    3. Centre forward. Sign Werner; he's quick, a proven goal scorer and should link up well with the other quick players at the club such as James, Mount and Hudson Odoi. Abraham is too slow, and is not going to make it as a world class centre forward imo. To be honest, with Batshuayi the back up option, I think the club need two more strikers, and Bathshuayi should be sold. Giroud plus at least one signing.
If Lampard does persevere with Abraham, he might have the odd good game when he is given time and space, but for the most part he is going to struggle.

    4. Coutinho would be a good loan signing. The club need that creativity with Hazard gone, and that massive gap has not been filled. Maybe another winger as well.

There's a lot of talk about a new keeper. Maybe, but the main priorities are as above. Comments?
