This has some great reviews. From the Director of the Raid and Raid 2. On the watch list.

Watched first one tonight which was as long as a film. It was good though and extremely violent...

Me & my good lady have finished the opening series and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

We didn’t quite understand why Sean has to be so posh though, and also thought some of the fight scenes and shooting scenes were way, way OTT but it was still a really good watch.

Th posh accent became funny by the end, still makes a change from Mockney i suppose. I thought it was good but found towards the end that a lot of quite minor characters became central to the plot and I could just about remember who half of them were as you haven't seen them for 3 episodes.

Yeah that’s a good point about the minor characters.

Looking forward to the next series though. See what happens next.

I'm halfway through this, and I know a lot of people have really enjoyed it, but I can't look past how absolutely ridiculous it all is.

The story is just about interesting enough for me to see it through to the end, but I was hoping for something a bit more gritty and realistic and not the fantasy violence that is just downright ****ing annoying.

I thought it was great even if a bit OTT.
They have a lot of work on to make season 2 anywhere near as good imo.

One thing it truly is is brutal, some of the fight scenes are crazy.

    Halfway through and enjoying it.

I managed to get to episode 5 and lost interest.
When it was revealed that our hero was an undercover cop rather than just a bad boy with a bit of a a conscience among a sea of mentalists it took away any realism for me, along with the often grotesque graphic violence right from the very opening scene of episode one, and the undercover cop angle has been done to death anyway.
As @mattledud suggests, the violence is often cartoonlike which grates with the otherwise laboured attempts at realistic characters, albeit the 'family' often descends into caricature, as do the various factions vying to increase their share of the 'business'. I may get round to the last 4 episodes.

There's been too much gritty and realistic in recent years imo.

Nowt wrong with some good ol' fashioned leave your brain at the door stuff.

Is it ridiculous? Is it cliched? Is it OTT? Absolutely. But I think it's been made that way in all honesty. Anyone who has watched Gareth Evans' previous stuff will know this is exactly what was expected.

I'm getting Spartacus: Blood and Sand vibes from it. Completely shameless about it's own absurdity.

I get the negative comments, but would folks have preferred dull as shit instead of suspension of belief...it's entertainment...I enjoyed it for what it is. As for Spartacus comments?...bugger off ......Spartacus series were great lol.

Of course it was. It’s ridiculousness and over the top nature made it what it was.
