It wouldn't surprise me if Waites switched this year (if he doesn't win the Worlds of course). His personal life has changed markedly over the last year or so and his shoulder surgery means his throwing arm is back to normal.

Very easy SF for Waites - I don't think he even played particularly well there, or it would certainly have been 6-0. Was pretty much coasting. Some of Hughes' darts were embarrassing.

Yeah, I'd like to see her finally win it.

Glad to hear Tony Green hasn't stuck around in the booth for this one. I genuinely can't believe they still let him do this.

Unfortunately you could see Deta fall apart there almost as soon as she went 2-1 up...

The standard this year has been abysmal. The whole set up is has kept itself locked in the 70's.

Good for Waites - fitting that he's now a multiple times winner. But what a cruise it was after that Durrant win. Coasting along with his B game, probably his C game in large stretches, and barely giving up any sets. It's not like I've been watching Lakeside for donkey's years or anything, but it's certainly the poorest one I've ever seen, probably for both drama and quality.

Smith was not ready for the big match, just like last year. Good run, but his presence in the final, not to mention the calibre of the other semifinalists (barring Waites), probably says a lot about where the BDO is nowadays.

the BDO is a good organisation but the big events are so hampered by the lack of quality compared to the PDC. Any of the best three or four players in the PDC would more than likely steamroller anyone in the BDO except maybe Waites and Adams (when he plays well).

Haven't seen a great deal of this tournament, but that was one of the most delicious Taylor defeats ever. Playing really well but missed 7(?) match darts to beat van Gerwen, then the crafty gurner steals it from him!

As much as it can be a bit dull when van Gerwen is cleaning up all these tournaments, you can always rely on him to act as an enforcer and stop Taylor. And Taylor needs his head examining when he's opting not to take on the bull when van Gerwen's on 144... glad he was punished for that. He'll probably now say that he'll never do it again (for the 87th time).

Interesting that Thornton gets a rematch with Chisnall right away

Not too sure how the fixtures are worked out if i'm honest. Might be something for me to do a bit of research on.

Pure coincidence about that one, but definitely a fix that there are all-Scottish ties in both Aberdeen and Glasgow whilst hate-figure Lewis will have games against Wade and Smith.

Just heard that Gary Anderson is ill, so Michael Smith will play twice tonight.

They had to do something about the Scottish meetings because some games were getting a bit bad like the fans such as when Aidy Lewis had coins thrown at him. Catch 22 really one english man on a stage to be taunted against a Scot or two english men against each other. Gives Could be fantastic news for Smith second bite at the Cherry is he has a bad one against Wright.

That Wade/vG match is one of the weirdest I've ever seen! First three legs van Gerwen looked unstoppable while Wade looked hopeless (yet still managed two 180s). Then van Gerwen started to miss and Wade slowly switched into his vintage mode, with a couple of fantastic checkouts along the way. Great win for Wade.

Smith looked so nervous in game one. And now has to play again...

Probably a good thing for Smith to play again tonight instead of having to wait for seven days. Amazing darts from Wade after looking like he was going to get thrashed early on.

Also, Lewis is often a very slow starter in the PL, and isn't generally that potent in this competition. Well I seem to remember he stuffed Barney on opening night last year, but then was poor for many weeks after. Not the worst matchup for Smith, but it'll be looking very tough already if he doesn't bag a point.
