Good discussion on soccer special regarding these two fantastic talents. Who do you prefer and who’s better?

Grealish is playing at a higher standard now, probably to be expected considering he's nearly four years older but I think he should be in the England side ahead of him at the moment.

Grealish is a very good player, I am wondering if you will get all the poaching attempts etc. that us and saints have had to deal with, or if he will be ignored because of your league position.

I think Jack is starting to settle into the league a lot better now, and will only get better. If he can add more goals to his game(double figures) then he’s close to being the complete footballer. The lad is a natural. Mount is very good too and already is adding goals to his game. Overall I think Jack has more ability and can control games better.

The offers will come in no doubt . It all depends on him tbf, because I can’t see us being prepared to sell him unless we went down.

Think Grealish can probably play better from a deeper position than Mount. Not really sure they’d be playing for the same position in the England side. Grealish likes to get up n down the pitch, take the ball from the defence and start something. Mount is more inclined to be involved at the other end of the pitch. No reason they couldn’t work together with a defensive focussed player propping them up.

Of course Grealish plays further up too, I just think he’s got that flexibility to do more.

Grealish stats in the championship were far from impressive in terms of goals and assists. It was unbelievable how much poorer we were without him in the team though. He just makes everything tick for us. The stats didn’t do him justice in terms of his influence.

Yes, the 1986 Villa team. We wouldn’t have got relegated then.

Different types of player for me. Grealish is the type that has a big part in creating the chances while Mount is the one to put the chances away.

Mount, but not by much imo.

But as @A Gooner says, quite different players.

Though I do wonder how Grealish would fare at a top 4/6 club. I think he'd go missing... Mount has shown he can start for a top 4 club.

    I prefer Mount personally.

Grealish reminds me of a Wilshere rather than a Lampard/Gerrard.

Very good technically but I'd rather have someone who gets into the box and smashes in 15 a season.

I think he’d do well at a top club once he’d settled in. He’s playing at a good level now in the best league in the world.

Fab players the pair of them.

It goes to Grealish for me atm due to Mount having better around him.(no disrespect intended although I do f*cking hate Villa)

For an England perspective if we are looking at someone who is going to be a no. 10 then for me that would be Maddison.

But agree with others, Grealish seems a deeper more linking player, Mount seems more a get in the box Lampard type player.

I'd say Mount is competing with probably Maddison and maybe Dele Ali for that no. 10 role behind Sterling, Kane and Sancho, whereas Grealish is probably competing with Winks/Oxlaide-Chamberlain for that no.8 role next a to a more defensive minded player like Rice or Henderson (though isn't he playing a bit more forward these days?).

What England have lacked in our biggest games recently, like against Croatia and Holland, is that midfield playmaker, the likes of De Jong and Modric bossed our midfield in those games, so it would be good if someone like Grealish could fill that gap.

Grealish is playing from the left of a front three for Villa, albeit in a different type of role to your traditional winger/wide forward, so he's up against Sterling, Sancho and Rashford for a spot which is just about as difficult as it gets in the England team.

He's clearly a good player but he's in a really difficult spot to break through with that talent ahead of him if he's going to continue playing that role.

I suspect Alli will usurp Mount again if he keeps this level of form up for that #10 role.
