The thread title was going to be 'The First Cut Is The Deepest' but thought that might be a bit of a stretch.

So it's confirmed then, all four members of UK Indie band, Viola Beach, died when the car they were travelling in appeared to crash through a safety barrier at almost 50mph and then fell 80ft into a canal. There are reports that a large oil tanker then ran over the wreckage but even if that were true there is nothing that a ship that size could have done to avoid it.

Hadn't heard of them before the accident. Heard one of their songs on the radio the other day. Sounded okay. Tragic though.

George Martin, the guy who gave us The sound of The Beatles. He was 90 years old.

I met him, briefly, years ago when I was working as a check-in agent for an airline and being a big Beatle fan at the time I wanted to say hello and have a quick chat but I fluffed it completely and made an arse of myself.

My Dad loved him, so I was spoon-fed his music from being a baby. Interesting character who led a colourful life, I'd imagine his biography is a good read.

Apparently Keith Richards said "It's very difficult for me to talk about Chuck Berry 'cause I've lifted every lick he ever played. This is the man that started it all!" .......He did indeed influence many great artists.

I've never felt quite the same about Chuck Berry since stumbling across a video of him farting on/urinating on a prostitute.

Rest in peace and all that, though.

The (rumoured) story doing the rounds this morning is that founding member of Talk Talk, Mark Hollis, has died.

Great band in their day, I think he’d thrown it in to be a family man about twenty years ago though..
