Peter Crouch retires: Ex-England, Liverpool, Tottenham & Burnley striker ends career

It's not often you see players with character and a sense of humour these days, so I'll be sad to see him go.

Put up with loads of shit in his early days (from me as well as thousands of others) but always saw the funny side of it and went on to have a decent PL career and a fantastic international scoring record.

Always hoped we'd sign him one day, and half expected us to bring him in on deadline day.

Hope he stays in and around the game as he seems like a top bloke.

    All the best Crouchy

One of my favourite ever Stoke players. He was fantastic for us and is loved by all Stoke fans.

    Enjoy your retirement big man

Clocked up a lot of clubs in his time, yet seemed well liked by all those fans he played for. A rare feat that points to a good character as well as good ability.

He'll be remembered for some massive goals at Spurs. Particularly the ones at the Etihad and in the San Siro.

Hope he stays in the game in some way.

Fondly remember him for his time at Anfield, had to non-scoring streak to start for us but proved his worth. Should've started in Athens...

Great character, hope he enjoys his retirement.

He played a blinder in getting everyone to forget the 'alleged' Madrid 'incident' with the hooker. Hope it wasn't true - I mean who would do that with Abbey Clancy at home?

Average but made the most of what he had.

Infuriating when playing for England and they would launch the ball to him (he was not that great in air given his height) and because he was so gangly, refs would give unfair fouls against him.

Not his fault but used to piss me off no end.

Happy days; That means we can’t sign him when all of our striker targets mug us off

Always liked him. Watched him play a friendly between Pompey and spurs really early in his career, and thought he was gonna be snapped in half as soon as he’s tackled hard. he scored 2 goals. Both back post headers iirc

Seems like a proper sound dude as well. Good luck to him, he can spend Saturday afternoons banging his fit missus instead now

Always liked him due to his spectacular goals and self-deprecating sense of humour.

Just got into his podcast. Love it! So funny and an amazing insight into the game.

He'll always be well thought of down at Villa Park.

Good luck Crouchy. Good down to earth lad who never takes himself serious.
