the 2022 World Cup is held in the middle of the domestic season, should the Lower Leagues as well as the Prem/Championship take a mid-season break?

I know it's a long way away. Plus there would be hardly any players taking part, but there will be those fans from Lower League clubs who might wish to travel out to the World Cup, plus imagine England playing a Semi-Final against Germany on the same night of the fixtures.

No definitely not. With the Prem and Championship teams not playing just think of all those fans missing there Saturday/Saturday evening/Sunday/Monday night and any other time Sky decide to move games to, football fix.
There will be thousands of fans needing something to do at these times and a lot would go and watch lower league football. It will help all the clubs from League 1 down to the non league.

I hate international weekends and its a great blessing that Cov play at these times, it is the only blessing mind

Completely change the format of the JPT for one season, and shove the entire thing in the World Cup break.

Or even cancel that and the League Cup for one year.

Maybe they should just put some L1 players in the England team instead. Couldnt do any worse than Milner etc.......

personally I think with the World Cup would be very different to when theres an International weekend as the matches will be on every day, therefore there will be a lot less attention towards the Lower Leagues

No not many players from League 1 will playing since most of the call ups in the division are under 21's, under 19's and full internationals for countries that have a very very slim hope of qualifying. Also premiership doesn't get stopped for african nations cup despite Chelsea normally having a few players competing.

As for missing watching England on TV, not really bothered, would rather be cheering on the mighty Salop wherever they may be. You can't beat it.

Well OBVIOUSLY there couldn't be any League 1/2 games because Wolves might lose some more of their players...

it's got very little to do with call-ups and more to do with whether it would be worth it from a fans perspective, considering that a large proportion of the fans who travel away with England come from Lower League clubs

You make a very good point, I think Qatar is a few hours ahead of us too, so even if England have a scheduled Saturday afternoon game in Qatar, it would be late evening in the UK. Only problem would be with midweek fixtures clashing, solution would be only to schedule Saturday fixtures during the World Cup.

I am of course assuming England qualify...

Wolves don't have any players who play international football for countries that might qualify for a World Cup!

    We're too cool for internationals.

    Special Kev sees to that.
