Had no idea where to put this story but it's set to dominate the window in January from Arsenal's point of view.

Aaron Ramsey: Arsenal midfielder & club fail to agree new contract

The papers also claim that we rejected a £50m bid in the summer. Another utter shitshow from the previous administration that will hopefully be a thing of the past from now on.

I did think it was similar to Ozil situation in that we can quite easily give Ramsey the money he wants but are restricted by the PL's wage cap rules. But this appears to be a genuine breakdown and the blame game is already starting.

SO, I think we'll be looking to sell in January.

Ornstein has just tweeted that an improved four-year contract was agreed but then withdrawn. Is it possible that Emery has vetoed it? It's hard to lose your best players but Arsenal have already broken the bank for Ozil and it is quite difficult to figure out how both players can fit into a typical Emery setup. Maybe they've decided it's better to cut him loose rather than commit tens of millions per year for retaining him.

I'll be sad to see him go, he's been a great player for us.

And it was Arsenal who withdrew it. So something has definitely happened. It's all conjecture right now. If we've rejected a bid in the summer like some have claimed then it means Ramsey gave us some kind of confirmation that he was willing to agree a deal, which saw us reject said offer and he's then flipped it on us and demanded a better deal in some sort of power play. Arsenal have obviously not taken this well.

It's interesting in terms of our XI. We're gonna need a new player because Emery doesn't seem to trust Ozil at #10 and I don't think he'll play Iwobi or Mkhitaryan there either. So either a new signing or something left-field like Lacazette playing there (which I'm totally behind!)

I wonder if we'll stop playing Ramsey now as well. It's a fairly untenable position. Sanchez was the same but at no point did negotiations completely break down with him like it has with Ramsey.

A bit annoyed because we obviously shoehorned him in and made him a vital player under our new system. Could of used the money to buy a in the middle Emery actually wants or play Ozil there and buy an quality winger (that the same system actually needs).

Also Jenkinson is the last of the British core to survive :laugh::laugh: safe to say that didn't work out.

Don't know if we will sign anyone, though a CDM is needed to take the weight of Fernandinho.

The 4 you listed are all homegrown. Ramsey is too, so I’d gladly take him over Moses or Drinkwater. Fabregas is on huge wages, so I doubt he moves and RLC should stay.

No place for Ramsey and I reckon he'd be looking to start.

We are going to need a ST come January. RW upgrade come next summer.

Agreed, perhaps a rescue mission home on loan until the summer would be in everybody’s best interests.

Rumours: Juventus and AC Milan want Arsenal's Ramsey

Italian clubs Juventus and AC Milan are both interested in signing Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey, with the Gunners willing to sell the 27-year-old in January to avoid losing him on a free in the summer. (Evening Standard)

Depending on the offer, another cash + player deal might be a good way out.

Linked with Krzysztof Piatek for a January move.

Don't know much about him other than he broke the Serie A debut record for a striker.

A bit like Can with Liverpool. We refused to bow to his demands because, when all said and done, he wasn't as good as he thought he was and wasn't worth what he was demanding. He decided to go on a free and we haven't missed him given the new buys we brought in. They're obviously different types of players but like Can, Ramsay is good but not that good.

Arsenal are right if he's making unreasonable demands simply because he can go on a free next summer. Sell him for a nominal fee in January and move on.
