After 11 years.
Testimonial in September.
All 6 Citeh fans have confirmed they’ll attend.
Was an absolute rock under Mancini but looked a little more exposed under Pellegrini and Guardiola.
Fantastic servant to City and a thoroughly decent human. Which is far more important than anything he's achieved as a footballer. I think he'll achieve much more outside of football.
The last great captain of the PL era leaves, not sure who'll pick him up, never known a player like him, whenever he started he gave us that feeling in the stadium that alls ok Vinny is playing. This is such a sad day, last link to the pre Takeover era gone as well. Great signing by Mark Hughes only £6m as well.
4 league cups
2 FA Cups
Thankyou Sir Vincent
Dont do testimonials but il be at this one in September, all proceeds go to Manchester homeless
Can we have him?
Another Premier league club would love to sign him up but guess he might go to China or something for a final pay day?
definitely involved in the conversation for PL greats, seems an absolute gentleman to boot as well.
I dunno....I can't shake the feeling his level/status was enhanced by playing under a manager who focused on defending a bit more under Mancini. When the defensive line got pushed up under Pellegrini, he looked considerably average, exposed and was routinely labelled overrated.
Kompany overrated ffs
Heartbroken. He has been a rock for us and my favourite player in recent years. I wish him the best wherever he goes but he will always have a home in Manchester. I have no idea who can replace his leadership. I am sure Silva will be captain with Aguero VC next season, but long term we need another rock. Hopefully Stones can step up in that regard.
De Ligt in!?
Rather get Toby in, 25m release clause , great experience
Don't think the digs in the OP are needed tbh.
Just needs to be a thread that respects the parting of a great PL CB. One that was bought by a shit manager as well before they got taken over.
Cracking CB who's come through a lot of injury problems to play a key roll this season.
Good luck to him in whatever he decides to do.
You could get 11 more years out of the Dutchman than Alderweireld.
What's he won?
Anyway, back on topic. Kompany has without doubt been one of the league's best. Without the controversies of other top CB's of the modern era too.
Ultimate professional and role model, great defender and he's chipped in with some big big goals in big games too. Loss to City and the league as I think he's certain to go abroad.
It’s only a little one. And not at the player. I’m sure Kompany will get a good send off. Unlike Pellegrini!
Great player, a proper leader like Terry.
City will miss him for sure.
Echo all the good things everyone else has said.
How though in 11 years has he not aged at all.
Exactly the same!!
They aren't digs, just an honest opinion of his PL career. He was the best for about 2-3 years out of the 11
One of the PL greats and a great guy off the pitch. Particularly liked his little exchange with Deeney after their 4th or 5th goal.
He gets how much it meant to Watford and Deeney.
