Yeah our average age is higher because of basically just 2 players, Coppinger and Butler. We’ve some quality younger talent in our squad. Back to the values etc, we’ve for the first time since SO’D day’s got 4 or 5 in the squad worth a fair whack. Provided a couple sign their contracts...

    £2.5m - John Marquis - 25yo
    £1m - Niall Mason - 21yo
    £1.5m - Joe Wright - 23yo
    £1.5m - Ben Whiteman - 22yo
    Total - £6.5m

That’s quite a conservative estimate as well, there’s a couple there who should go on to be worth more in the transfer market than that. Between rest probably around £1m total. £7.5m all in, with bigger potential in future.

We look like we have a plan and the right coach(s) in McCann and his lot to really make a go at it with improving younger players. He seems the type.

I believe they call it a "good blend of youth and experience" in football punditry gravy train circles.

I see Luton are going for Graeme Jones as their next manager. They don't mind who manages them as long as they're called Jones.

I have nothing but respect for a bloke like Coppinger, pretty sure he could have played elsewhere at bigger clubs, but has been a loyal servant to Doncaster, good on him.

He was far more prolific goalscorer when with Exeter around 1 in 6 games around 1 in 9.5 now.

Donny did a Copps Day few years ago a £5 to get in, obviously the frugal types turned up in their droves, can't remember who they played or what the score was but nice gesture nonetheless.

Posh are away at Pompey next round of Checkatrade whereas Sunderland drew Cities kids at home.

Some of our fans are drooling over the fact we be Chelski Kids 3-1 last night, they had an average age of 18 , FFS some people need to get a grip.

Coppinger seems more a creative playmaker type to me than a striker, he is very good on the ball.

Yeah he’s not really ever been a goal scorer or an out and out striker. As Ark says he’s more of a playmaker - he makes things happen in the final third, plays those clever passes, beats people and uses his football nous to link play.

Would never really expect 15 goals a season from him but there is a void there when he doesn’t play. He binds everything together and makes us tick more than you might realise.

Quite right. I think to be fair to him, when he was at his peak we were a decent Championship side so he stuck with us. When we dropped back down again he was going into his 30s so possibly wasn’t quite as coveted by other clubs by then. We have been lucky to have him though no doubt - I’m sure he could’ve got a very lucrative move in the Championship a few years back if the stars had aligned

I think the laugh at the end noted i was being sarcastic.

They should be more loyal players in football, James Coppingers are rare in a world of agents & greed even at 3rd tier English Football, Maja at Sunderland a good example.

Always liked Marquis, played well on Sunday and I remember him playing and scoring against us for Millwall when he was first starting out. Chop that man-bun off though.

There aren't many it's true, we have Matt Bloomfield who is in his 15th season, those 2 players apart there can't be many players that have played for the same team for even a decade.

Bobby Hassell played for us for a decade and now is academy manager, superb role model for the youngsters IMO.

It was dependant on Kane leaving?? What’s the new bet.

PS - teams who lose after being 2-0 up with 20 mins to go, don’t get promoted. :smokin:

    You pick the bet.

Under Ferguson our season would’ve been dead after today’s loss, we’d have totally lost plot and gone on a long losing run.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up on us losing becoming a regular thing. We’ll bounce back from this stronger, i’m confident of that. That’s what promotion winning sides do.

Our 1st Home Win on a Saturday since August 15th with 3 of 4 new players getting a run out.

Some good results gone our way
    Pompey's surprise loss.
Sunderland & Luton drawing & Danny Hylton suspended for our match next week.
Donny losing , typical McCann team cave in to hard press & find 95 minutes hard to see out.
Shame Barnsley & Charlton picked up maximum points though.
