I was speaking to a guy at work this week who seems to be in the know with Town stuff and he was telling me he was our highest earner on £2300 a week (Macca second on £2100) and I’d presume we offered him more here too so Northampton must be chucking some serious cash about to offer him significantly more like Hurst has said.
I’m disappointed he’s left but not as gutted as I would’ve been had he left us had we still been in the National League.

At least with the 2 highest earners gone it should free up some funds to get some exciting new players in.

Really good news about Waterfall's new deal, somewhat tempered by disappointment at Fox leaving. I'm not all that surprised at the latter, as his performances in the playoffs only served to underline how big a miss he'd been for us when he was injured earlier in the season. I'm sure some will whinge that he's gone to a club in the same division but he's gone to a club that would have been in League 1 had it not stuffed things up so badly towards the end of the season. You have to think they will be going all out to make sure they don't mess it up again.

I know next to nothing about Orsi, though his Conference numbers look decent.

Harry Chapman signs for Bradford, surprised he’s dropped down to League Two but he does have an attitude problem as seen here.

Heard we were/are close to signing someone this week but a club in a higher league has come in at last minute, so may now not happen. Also heard Cropper has signed a new deal.

As mad as it may seem, Ryan Bennett was apparently a done deal but Reading swooped in.

Heard this one wasn't Bennett, and the Bennett situation is similar to the Bogle one of a few years ago, he is on far too much money for us to be able to afford him without a drastic paycut. He has apparently moved back to the area but its likely to be Reading who have offered him the best deal, but Hull is a consideration due to location.

I always thought Hull was far more likely than us. I even thought Lincoln might be a possibility.

Anyway, it looks like Northampton are doing their utmost to make sure they don't stuff it up again.

CONFIRMED! DANNY HYLTON IS A COBBLER

Reading seems an odd choice if he has moved back to the area. I don't think it would have been the wisest use of budget to bring in a Championship CB so I'm not massively arsed.

Seems a fantastic signing on paper. I'm sure Hughes won't take any crap so hopefully the attitude isn't a problem.

We have also somehow just announced the signing of Hull captain Richie Smallwood on a 2 year contract. Unbelievable.:banana::banana:

That’s Oscar Massey (released by Plymouth) & Tyrese Shade (released by Leicester [on loan at Walsall last season]) signed up so far

Shade sounds like a good signing and Massey looks like he has the attributes physically despite only being 18 year old, interested to see how he develops.

Yeah a quick google on Massey and a lot of snippets about scoring goals, top scorer at youth level.

His own social media makes him come across as a grounded, level headed young man.

Appreciate all those things mean little, could be completely for show and / or may not translate to the pros…but…I’m quietly excited about him as a prospect…

…but also concious of the fact he’s been released by L1 Plymouth rather than say Liverpool or someone of that ilk
