EFL called Liverpool's bluff
Well the kids beat your lot, let's wait and see. Either way hope they understand this is a learning experience and the result isn't particularly important.
Doesn't really matter tbh. He would have played an unproven side either way - the only question is which staff will be in charge. I imagine it will be the new youth coach brought in recently from Porto.
As I said in the League Cup thread, Klopp's approach is to play the kids and squad players in these competitions and see how it goes. Either they go out quick (as is usually the case) or they all get valuable game time in a competitive environment.
To take a scalp like Arsenal is impressive enough in the circumstances and hopefully they can get past Villa too. It will be much harder though.
Pretty much as I said at the beginning then. Just Klopp sounding off about fixture congestion. And he has a point.
It’s bullshit tbh we are being forced to throw a competition basically.
The fume if Liverpool still go on and win the competition... from Klopp that is.
It is what it is, we just need to pick a basket and put our eggs in it. Personally I hope we pick the CWC out of spite now .
I'm curious, what would normally happen if a quarter final had to be postponed due to adverse weather conditions? Seemingly there is no date it's available to be played on .
Still surprises me nobody at LFC or from League Cup didnt see this scenario at start of season
Tbf we usually throw the league cup and would have this season if Arsenal weren’t so weak.
Imagine they did but didn't expect a bunch of teenagers to make the Quarter finals .
Just checked, in 2008 you were allowed to play your League Cup game on January 7th, the midweek after the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Surely we could have done this?
Where did you lot play? Japan was it?
I think that there are more international breaks these days, seems the last few seasons we have about 8 of the ****ers during the season, so its harder to re arrange games.
If we get to the final what happens with the Leicester game on Boxing Day?
I'd have a large bet on our record defeat (9-1) being broken
To be fair mate, we did our best to lose the last game, not our fault Arsenal are shite
That was the Semi final chief, I think.
Yeah it was.
Trying to work out the difference here. It appears you played your League Cup QF game earlier in Dec (3rd) whereas ours would be mid Dec which clashes with the world club championship.
Your 4th round tie was on 11th November. The same week this season was reserved for damned international break, so there lies the problem, the international break in mid november this year means this seasons games get more clogged up. You were then allowed the early week in Dec for your League Cup QF.
Surely a pretty weak Liverpool team that will turn out at Villa Park? Either way we will need to be on our game. Good chance of reaching the semi final going by the fact that Liverpool have two games within 24 hours. Send the reserves please.
Given we need to take 23 players to the Club World Cup (from my understanding), I'd be amazed if even the most ardent Liverpool fan had heard of more than 5/6 of the players that turn up at Villa Park .
Be hilarious if it is rained/snowed off and the EFL have to reschedule the game anyway.
Nothing I would imagine. Just have to play it.
