Can't knock the team in the second half.

    Went for it at least.

Bruno showing his lack of sportsmanship there the rat. Dunno how West Ham didn't wrap that up earlier Noble is a prick.

if we were gonna lost one of these, at least it was this one. our attackers weren't really getting it done today. i honestly forgot martial was on the pitch in the second half.

Enjoyable game despite the result. I thought we played quite well 2nd half. Yet another non-appearance from Martial, other teams play a false 9, we play an invisible 9, he's got to go. Sancho was quite lively, Van de Beek busy, Matic sloooww as usual, 27 attempts on goal which isn't bad for a team with 10 changes. Henderson reminded me that he's better than De Gea.

Good luck to West Ham. :duke

Oh well. Gave it a go, but we could've put big Phil up front and he'd have at least tried to make a better job of it than Martial. West Ham were solid enough, Diop and Král were excellent. I thought Sancho, Dalot and Van de Beek had decent games, the rest a bit pedestrian.

At least it's the league cup, which stops mattering once you're not in it :whistle

Sancho, Dalot, VDB and Lindelof all had good games imo and Matic was decent, but holy shit at how bad Martial was and everybody just wanted ball to feet.

Was it really necessary to rotate this much? We don't have the benefit of constantly facing Wimbledon, Oxford and South Park in the cups like City do. Not the end of the world losing in Carabao Cup but still...

It's the 'better than nothing' cup, but it's a cup we're out of before the end of September, very poor again.

hahahaha. one minute it's "league cup isn't enough," and the next it's "no league cup piles on the pressure." ffs

Trying to win and pushing whatever boundaries needed pushing. It may've been the wrong decision but the ref dropped the ball and it was sat there.... I like him for it.

We haven't a squad to compete for everything so it's a blessing going out anyway.

Martial should be done though.... he isn't a striker and he needs to move on.

Mata is done now but he might be good behind the scenes.

I thought Lingard was our best player for a long period.

    Dallot wasn't that bad.

It was interesting watching Sancho late in the game. He was the one dropping deeper to defend and fill roles. He hasn't set the team alight but he's a team player and clearly understands the game.

I had doubts on VDB in midfield and whilst he was at fault for not tracking on the goal later in the game he started going in for tackles and his forward play was what we need. With the first team out there, I'd risk him in a game instead of Fred.
