Pretty certain this is the way we will see things go in the coming weeks with the increasing cases of coronavirus in the UK.

Do you think it's necessary or over the top?

it better not happen for our game against Norwich, Carrow Road is only the ground in the league i haven't ticked off yet and i'm going next week. Might save me a few quid if they do do it though as i probably spend the best part of a ton each game.

Gives teams like Brighton and Arsenal a massive advantage as they're used to playing in front of silent fans.

    It's a no from me.

It's an over-the-top reaction imo. Don't go to work, don't go shopping, don't go to the football, don't cross the road, just don't ever leave the house and you minimise your risk of ever getting sick.

It seems likely that most of us (i.e. more than 50%) are probably going to get it. It's just a case of how soon.

Unfortunately, it also seems possible that just because you've had it doesn't mean you're immune and can't get a version of it again.

Should we lie back and think of England or keep running round in circles shouting the sky is falling...............or something in between, perhaps.

Sports bosses have been summoned to somewhere (I assume to a meeting with government officials) to discuss 'contingency' plans regarding the virus. We are not far off 'behind closed door' matches at all. It will be interesting to see if matches are shown on TV en masse if that does happen.

What will be more interesting though is seeing this meeting between the FA, PL, EFL and the Government. I mean, how many numpties can you fit in one room?

Governments are pulling this shit as they know that the healthcare services are going to be swamped and they're trying to flatten the infection curve. The only positive from this shit is that it could mean the scousers might not see their team win it live

I think it's OTT though, can't just shut down the whole economy over a ****ing virus.

Is the best case outcome something that would cause concern?

If this does happen, I wonder if clubs will take the chance to test streaming 3pm games for everyone at home

I was going to say Ray Lewington can't attend either but he's only 63. He looks just as old as Hodgson.

Hundreds of millions infected and tens of millions dead worldwide? Yeah I’d say it’s cause for concern

Ouch, I was hoping I'd be better than that. Is death rate estimated at 1%? It sounds higher from those numbers.

    This is best case right?

Death rate is estimated about 1-3 in a hundred, and it’s unlikely a vaccine will be found soon. Most worrying thing is you seem to be able to catch it more than once.

Obviously the figures are based on no quick vaccine discovery, but that “best” case has a medium probability rating from the government.

Oh and that’s just the human cost, the economic cost is... well probably not worth talking about. Manufacturing supply chain is f*cked and a global recession looks hard to stop.

Thanks for the explanation. I pretty much expected this would tonk the world economy, but the human cost sounds bloody awful.

I've already heard it'll be back next year, so I'm hoping the vaccine is ready so we don't experience it twice this bad.

From what I understand it’s unlikely we’ll have a vaccine by next year

Ouch, that's some pretty gloomy news. Thanks for the honesty though mate.
