Surprised this doesn't have it's own thread. Follows the uprising and ultimate downfall of Escobar in Columbia. Gives an insight into how he got started and just how much money his organisation were making (which is an obscene amount!). Think it's only one season long, i'm three episodes into it and it's really really good. Worth a watch!

Finished the first series earlier. I thought it was equally brilliant and fascinating, really well made with a decent cast. Leaves you somewhat in awe his sheer genius as a criminal mastermind even if he was a mass murderer and terrorist, makes me want to read up on him a bit more. Especially in the later episodes, you just can't imagine a drug lord being able to pull off such audacious plans in this day and age that he got away with. Reminded me a lot of the Italian series, Il Capo dei Capi an equally good serial drama/biography that tells the story of the rise and career of Mafia boss Toto Riina until his downfall in the 1990s. A lot in common with Escobar, also grew up in abject poverty and grew from it a massive criminal empire that went as far as declaring open war on the Sicilian local authorities and Italian government in the same way Escobar did and caused almost as much carnage.

Seen somewhere that there's already a second season in production so will look forward to that one.

Yeah it's hard to believe the stranglehold he had on Columbia. Pretty incredible. Very interesting story. First season was good, looking forward to the next one.

downloading that now, looks like it has good reviews. :thumb

Just finished it. I actually thought there was only going to be one season but that's obviously not happening. It is very good though so can't wait for the next season to come out.

There's only so much they can really do with it. The majority of the story was told in the first series.

Exactly unless they make stuff up to fill out a second series. Anyone know when it's due to be shown?

I think they found themselves in an awkward position, too long for one season but too short for two.

I think it would have been just right for a 13 episode one season but they wanted to get two seasons out of it so will presumably do 2x10.

Sorry for the massive thread revival but just a heads up (in case you didn't know) that Season 3 is out. Watched the first one on Friday night.
