SUNDERLAND AFC........Why on earth is there room for two teams?
I don't have a lot of confidence in Mr Quinn delivering the goods. Our world class manager turned out to be Royston Keane. Our high profile replacement was Rick Sbragia. He now says he wants a winner. Ally Mac fills that field. Love it to be Jol but i'm not getting my hope up.

Easier said than done..... No Keano anymore so who can really bring the big names players in...

Its always going to be hard to bring any top players to the N.E

Well we've not got a manager yet, so nobody can really bring a player in at the moment...

It can be hard, however yourselves managed to sign the likes of Michael Owen, Oba Martins, Patrick Kluivert and other big names over the years, so I don't see why we shouldn't. Seaburn is a beautiful area along the coast, so housing is a potential selling point to the players. Hopefully we can acquire some quality for an assault on the top half.

Sunderland isn't indeed the most attractive city in the world but money talks; yeah sure we won't sign any massive names but good players will still come here if the price is right.

And of course a decent manager would be nice as well. Preferably not Strachan, and to a lesser extent Bruce who have both been strongly linked with the club.

Well, Martin Jol is out of the equation. :( Breaking news on SSN now says he's been appointed head coach of Ajax. :slap:

Ranieri was worth a punt, when I stuck him on he was 33/1.

The clue is in the thread title  but for you ;) With the promise of a £200m kitty we can have pretty much any manager we like.

5Live suggesting Steve Bruce is nigh-on a done deal, with only compensation to be sorted. :hmmm I don't like the sounds of this. I wouldn't want another Lee Clark situation.

 Are you for real!?!?!? Then why haven't you got Mourinho in that case!? Man City is an infinitely more attractive project - better team, better city and heck, much more money. You're not even the best new wealthy kid on the block ffs.

The delusion/arrogance of your post makes me glad Steve Bruce might end up being your "we can have pretty much any manager we like" appointment.

But then those of us with more balanced outlooks already knew that the likes of Strachan/Bruce were the highest Sunderland could aim for.

While I agree Jonno's original statement was off the mark this one is also absolute rubbish.

While we can't have pretty much any manager we like, I do believe that the Sven's and Jol's of this world would be interested in Sunderland (just a shame the Ajax job came up when it did). As i've said many a time money talks and for us to be as unambitious as to say Strachan and Bruce are the best we can hope for, well we might as well have just given Sbragia a contract extension.

That said, I personally wouldn't be too disappointed if Bruce did get the job. A proven Premiership manager is exactly what we need now and he's probably a better candidate than Allardyce or Curbishley ever were.

Given the chance with some coin behind him I guarantee you will see much happier days at Sunderland with Steve Bruce in charge, he's an ambitious manager and wants to win things and get higher and couldn't care less who he does it with.
