A new dawn is seemingly on the horizon for Newcastle Utd fans. after years of mediocrity geordies are starting to dream of the days of the mid 1990s.. the days of Shearer, Ferdinand, Asprilla and Ginola are being revived in tyneside folklore... and maybe even better this time. The United Arab Geordies are now the economic superpower of the premier league. their wealth is making Man City's bank account look like loose change.

Can the mighty Tottenham Hotspur come to town and spoil the party? Harry Kane is overdue a PL goal and it's about time he smashed one in.
A new rivalry is in the air between these two teams from opposite ends of the country! The semites from the south take on the Arabs from the North! WHO WILL WIN THE BIG SUPER SUNDAY GAME??

Well it's Friday and Steve Bruce is still there.

Time to celebrate his 1000th club game in charge.

    0-3 Spurs.

Thought one of the Geordies might have started this thread now that they've all coincidentally flocked back to the forum this week :whistle

Shame SJP will be rocking as it'll make the game a little more difficult for us. We still have the better squad though so no excuses for anything other than a win. We got outplayed there last year so would be nice to just see us not get out-footballed by one of the dullest teams in the league tbh.

Kane to get off the mark in the league and Spurs to win hopefully.

This will be the start of the Steve Bruce revival, where he puts together a run, getting him enough points before the January transfer window, so that the board think he deserves until the end of the season, only for them to collapse in the final 15 games.

Probably be a mixed reaction if Bruce is still there!

The new owners and team will get support but he won’t.

Tough day in our house when this one happens, things get rather tense :)

In reality, nothing has changed for the team and Bruce so I suspect unless moral has gone through the roof when they watched Baron Greenback pack his bags and walk away then we're going to have a bad day :(

Son and Gil apparently. Both were off on international duty which doesn't bode well.

BIG match for both teams today. Mags under new ownership and Spurs to gain a winning momentum to kick start their season. If spurs lose this there will be changes.

I think the Saudis have done the right thing keeping Bruce on for this. Not in terms of it being “the right thing” to do. But purely in terms of the PR side of things. Obviously there’s been a lot of disdain in the media about the takeover and so sacking Bruce before his 1000th game would have been another stick to beat them with despite it probably being deserved regardless.
This way if Bruce wins, they can let him go on a high, say thanks and that he deserved the chance to leave with dignity of winning his final match. If they lose, especially if it’s a drubbing, then they can get rid and say it’s obviously time for a change and he result validates that.

    If it’s a draw they’re fxxked!

Dont be surprised with a sudden upturn in form, there is a correlation between wages and league success, and a 1 million performance bonus to each player could be effective.

Despite Bruce still being there I think an euphoric atmosphere will drive the home team on today.
    My prediction:

    Newcastle 2 Tottenham 1

Saint-Maximin, Wilson and Joelinton all starting. Feels quite an attacking lineup from Newcastle

Probably our strongest 11 but not feeling too confident today. Fans will help Newcastle so hopefully we can score early and spoil the mood.
