Pape Souare: Crystal Palace defender airlifted to hospital after M4 crash

Crystal Palace defender Pape Souare was airlifted to hospital after a car crash on the M4 motorway on Sunday - but his injuries are not life threatening.

Souare, 26, sustained injuries to his thigh and jaw bone and will remain in hospital while he receives treatment.

He was not part of the side that beat Middlesbrough 2-1 on Saturday.

"The club are liaising closely with the hospital on his progress," Palace said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with Pape and his family at this time."

Hope he's alright and has a speedy recovery .

My friend sent me a text last night saying her mate (a firefighter) pulled him out of the wreckage at about 12pm yesterday.

Sounds like he's broken his upper leg (ouch) and done some damage to his jaw. Could've been so much worse
