Hi , I played school football in Edinburgh in the late 60s before we moved here. This was a barren wasteland for football, but with time I was infatuated with NHL hockey. I loved Montreal Canadians, through their dynasty since watching them was like watching the beautiful game. The CANADA-RUSSIA series was the panicle! But through the 1980s got fed-up with NHL expansion , which substituted fighting for quality game play- in the interest of big business expansion of the teams into America $$$$$$ . Players salaries seemed more important than the team and mediocrity ruled . The wife used to say 'oh a hockey game broke out in the midst of a fight'. The few times I went to a game it was like everyone was being entertained @ home . If I yelled to support the team - people would glare at you.... not what I call supporting a team. Big Business destroyed the sport for me and I will not go back!!! . Upshot was I watched the EURO-2008 and noticed that local cable were showing EPL games on the weekend. HALLUEA I WAS SAVED!!! Born again -I must have watched every weekend since then and was Born again twice when I discovered SPL Celtic games....God be praised However I do have words of caution for you guys. It looks to me like Big Business is getting its claws in to the FA just like it did to hockey in N America . I hope it doesn't do that to the EPL/SPL.
