Off the top of my head...

Adriano, Van der Meyde, Drenthe, Djemba Djemba, Henrik Larsson.. just to name a few.

What players can you all think of?

That is a blast from the past tbh. He was a phenomenal player, i think his size hindered his progress.

The likes of Juan Roman Riquelme too.. yeah, he was unbelievable at Villarreal but i do wonder how far he could go if he left them.

David Bentley was one, did alright for Blackburn, had the "next David Beckham" hype, got the move to Spurs and completely fell away. Retired at 29 because he'd got fed up with the game.

Adriano definitely, could have been a Brazilian great in line with the 3 Rs, but depression from his father's death lead him down the wrong path.

Berahino. At one point was picked ahead of Kane for the England friendlies, but had attitude problems and ruined everything.

Rebrov springs to mind for me. Perhaps unfairly compared to his fellow countryman but he came with a bit of excitement about him and didn't hit anywhere close to the heights of Shevchenko.

    Ravel Morrison.

Backed as being the best player coming up through the ranks, got a attitude and ended up being shipped to Lazio, who loaned him out to some Mexican team last season. Remember Rio saying he was the best player he ever saw at Old Trafford, Pogba and Lingard used to idolise him apparently.

Domestically you could probably also add Jack Robinson, James Vaughan, Jack Rodwell, Frazier Campbell, John Bostock and I don't think it's unfair to nsme Jack Wilshere.

There are players smaller than saviola that have gone on to have great careers. He was pretty much the same size as the greatest ever Messi so it wasn't that. He joined Barca when they were in transition so it was tough for him to shine. Or maybe the pressure of playing for a giant got to him. Remember it also didn't work out for riquelme in that same Barca team

Wasn’t Adu just a overhyped FM wonderkid?
