Don't know why people are pretending it's no punishment - it's harsh as **** & has undone everything we've achieved in the first part of the season. Gonna have to spend the rest of the year looking down instead of up now. No way are we getting relegated but the fact we're even talking about that shows how harsh this is. When a Man City or a Chelsea do something like this it's just a fine. :rolleyes

All the fans of other clubs sticking the boot in on this thread, so many other clubs are gonna be in this position soon so let's hope karma's not a bitch yeah?

I don't doubt that he did play a part in it but it's also up to the chairman and owners of the club to regulate his spending, I'm sure they can prohibit him from spending over the amount they can afford to.

Suppose my point is this is largely the owners fault imo

What you have to remember in this is that we don't actually have owners or a set chairman.

We were in a receivership for a long time a lot of people we have in positions at the club now are in acting positions.

Darren Dein has an awful lot to answer for in all of this.

This is the fourth time saggy face has been involved with a club's poor finances. I agree that the owners deserve the bulk of the blame due to their unrealistic ambitions setting exceedingly high budgets, but Redknapp certainly does not help by going after players that want a high wage to play at the club he's managing. He's proven in the past that he knows how much a player earns too, so he must be involved in the contract negotiations.

Am trying to think of any other industry where a business that’s paying all its bills and operating legally gets told how much operating debt they’re allowed to have.

Surely the debt is only an issue to the owners and shareholders? I can see how overspending could create an advantage but football isn’t that linear. Historically there’s loads of clubs that have overspent but got nowhere.

It’s similar to a business investing in a new machine or software hoping that it will pay for itself by creating increased profits.

If you're losing £13m a season and £39 over 3, then you're not solvent without your owners financial support. So I fail to see what the purpose of FFP is, if clubs are almost universally singularly reliant on their benefactors largesse.

£13m, £25m, £100m- the principle is the same.

Solvency directly relates to the ability of an individual or business to pay their long-term debts. To be considered solvent, the value of a businesses assets must be greater than the sum of its debt obligations. Same as for an individual.

Ergo the solvency of Birmingham City FC was not in question. All that was in question was whether the club had breached the rules of the EFL. Which it had.

Which leads me back to my previous comment. As long as a business is paying its bills, is operating legally and has assets greater than its debt then what the **** has it got to do with the EFL? The debt is a matter for the owners.

The EFL have also restricted Blues ability to trade by applying their bullshit embargo.

Challenge the ruling in court I say. Not that I’m that bothered really. Don’t wanna go up and would prefer to go down if I had to choose.

Apparently us, Derby and Villa could all be in trouble in the near future, although I thought us being under embargo then selling our best fullback and loaning out Rhodes who have helped our financial position.
Hopefully we can decrease our wages bill hugely in the summer when a lot of overpaid players who aren't even close to the 1st team are out of contract.

Sadly due to constant injuries this will also probably see the end of Hooper and Lee, but the football club has to run as a business now more than ever and we can't let sentiment get in the way.

Don't think we will get a points deduction, but also don't see many players incoming, which will be a problem as we currently have 2 or decent loanees who we will probably lose out on.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Brum get sucked into the relegation whirlpool now.

    Marginally Sean my old.

I was thinking more if you drop points in the next 2 and others below nick wins.

Although hopefully we'll give a helping hand at Rotherham in a couple of weeks

    Yeah I see your point.

Can't wait to take 9 points in our next three games and it'll all be yesterday's news...

Yeah, that's not how it works, pal. Different governing body in the PL, why do you think QPR told the EFL to f*ck themselves before they got relegated anyway? IF (and it's a big IF) we get promoted, this shit will be in the past assuming we stay up and continue to do so.
