Has died at 82
I was surprised to read he'd only released 14 studio albums!? I can remember my English teacher at school being a massive fan, he used to play his albums during the lessons and then pause every now and again and tell us to listen to the "sheer magnificent poetry".
RIP but can't believe the (almost Bowie-like fuss on the radio to be honest. I'm sure he has many fans but I'm sure the majority of people, at least in this country, only know him for one song (and that one was better sung by someone else).
Suzanne was his biggest success but the biggest song he wrote that was made famous by others is, by far, Hallelujah. Top tune..
Dad was a big fan, so I have heard all his work, a lot. Found most of it laughable.
"I love your body, your spirit and your clothes".
I hope this doesn't mean we going to be hearing nothing but that awful headworm Hallelujah every pair of plates?
As soon as i heard his name i thought of the classic one liner from The Young Ones..............nobody ever listens to me anyway........... i might as well be a Leonard Cohen record.
