Anyone watching it? BBC2 Sunday evenings
I liked the last series better, but sticking with it
Agreed that last series was better but still enjoying this
Want either Jo and Sam or Emon and Jamil. Jen really f*cking irritates me.
jen irritates my other half too !
I would love to experience a travel challenge like this
Jen is a ****.
Also worth noting that Lizzie would get absolutely destroyed. or in my case I’d spaff on her 30seconds in.
I’ve just finished the second series, I really enjoyed it just as much as the first.
Was so pleased with who won too. Have you watched the final?
Me too .. although I bet the buses rides are hideous.
Nicely summed up
No other way to describe her tbh, she came across as a selfish, spoilt brat and I feel desperately sorry for her husband as he seemed really nice.
yes I watched the final and, although I originally wanted the mum and son to win, I was happy for them. It was a close result!
Those bus journeys would be a killer
Yeah he seemed such a lovely bloke. She might watch that back and cringe at how she was with him. Vile woman.
It was nice they donated half to charity too
I really liked the mum but I thought her son was a brat .. I know he had ADHD though so I guess I can’t be too harsh.
Be nice to travel a similar journey but add flying wouldn’t it? Some of the sights were stunning .. those waterfalls were out of this world.
I hope so, otherwise his life is going to be hell if that's what she's like all the time
I read since that they've donated another £5k to a different charity, so only keeping £5k for themselves.
Did you feel she seemed put out by his hearing loss?
Ah that’s nice of them, seemed like nice blokes.
I was thinking if they did a series 3 where could they possibly travel to and from.
She certainly didn't seem very accommodating for it. Talking to him fairly quietly in a busy train station and getting angry because he can't hear
Yeh I don't know tbh, possibly something like Egypt down to South Africa but I feel like the public transport may be more difficult to find along that route.
They are definitely doing a Series 3, as well as a celebrity one that was filming but stopped for the pandemic.
Yeah she annoyed me doing that.
Fancy being so unsupportive though .. and all he kept thinking of was her etc. Poor bloke.
Ugh a celebrity one, they should just concentrate on the normal ones. I thought maybe Canada through to Mexico but with it being mainly English speaking I don’t think they’d do that. Could do Japan to New Zealand? As boats are permitted.
yes the son was a brat ..! She was trying to please him all the time
Lots of wonderful places to see and the sights were indeed stunning. Looking forward to the next one
I think she thought he was going to quit? And he was obsessed with food wasn’t he
Yeah me too but would’ve preferred it to not be a celebrity one.
Yes, he was always hungry
no I wouldn’t be in favour of a celebrity one. It’s nice for ‘normal’ people to get the chance to do it
I watched a bit of it last night as I noticed they were heading for Ushuaia. We visited different parts of Peru around 20 years ago (luckily missed a big earthquake by a few months) and in recent years Bolivia, Northern Argentina, Buenos Aires, Patagonia and the Ushuaia region. I can assure you that those long distance buses (at least in Argentina) can be far more comfortable than long haul flights and the food's decent as well. My view may be partly influenced by the legroom I need but you're also surrounded by fewer people and less noise. We took a few where flights didn't work for the birding places we wanted to get to but if I had the time I'd be happy to save the money on a hotel and a flight for parts of a trip.
The food at least looked better in season 2 than in some of the places in season 1
Did you do the best buses available? as on some of the buses they did on the programme they occasionally upgraded to a better bus which didn’t look as bad. Also the bus journeys didn’t look half as bad as the train journeys in season 1 in Europe and Asia - they looked like hell.
Our Argentinian friend was looking after us and he usually got us the best buses and the best seats, which cost a bit more but were worth it.
