Watford are a point off us with 2 games in hand. It’s theirs if they want it.
Well Watford don't want it either. Beginning to think it's viewed as a bit of a poisoned chalice.
I know you are being tongue and cheek but with the exception of West Ham and maybe Everton who probably want to crack the top 6 next season we all want it and we certainly played like it tonight.
Huddersfield followed by Southampton and Wolves at home coming up still keeps us in a strong position.
We play better football without Deeney so his suspension hopefully won’t be too bad for us provide Deulofeu and Pareyra are back. I think Capoue is banned for 2 games though which is a massive miss.
We gave it a good go though.
Played worse than that and won..
It was a bit tongue in cheek, I'm just surprised that we're still in 7th after Friday nights performance. I still think it's yours to lose and personally I'd much rather you gained a European place by winning the FA cup.
I think teams want Europe the problem is all the qualifying rounds if you do finish 7th. It affects your whole pre season and transfer plans because you don't know if you're in the group stages of EL or not until the end of August which you then need a bigger squad to deal with. Burnley and Everton the year before had terrible starts to the season. Burnley recovered eventually Everton ended up with Sam Allardyce in a panic.
I agree, we haven't a squad that can realistically put pressure on our starting 11 yet alone be fit for the extra games that Europe would entail.
Rodgers mirrored my own thoughts on it at today's presser saying it might be too early for us at present.
I know from Rodgers's time at Liverpool he liked the extra training time from not being in Europe.
Good day for us if Brighton can hold on ..
Boll***s, knew I posted that too early.
Wolves on a bit of a bad run since the semi final defeat
Good luck with 7th place but the reality is even if you have a strong squad those early qualifying rounds mess up your preseason and it's really difficult to cope. You won't have many Burnley fans hoping for 7th place again in a hurry we were almost relegated this season because of the bloody Europa. If Watford win the fa cup I think they miss out on the qualifying rounds and would go straight into the group stage which would be fantastic since no pre season disruption and a chance of playing the big boys.
I know I ask this a lot across various threads but what's the aim then?
What do you want from Burnley next season? 8th to 17th?
Content just making up the numbers? I don't get it.
Perhaps not the club itself but the fans should be relishing European football. How often does it happen?
As it was, Burnley / Dyche wanted out of it as quickly as possible so I'm not buying it's the sole reason for a poor season. Your European campaign was over in August. You were out in the first round you played in the league cup and out of round 4 in the FA Cup.
You've not had that many games to contend with this season. The reality is you overachieved a bit last season and it has balanced out a bit this season.
Massive win for Wolves and they’ll fancy themselves to go 3/4 points clear of 8th going into the last game.
We still have it in our own hands but it will take a massive push. Deeney’s sending off cost us possibly 5 points I reckon. He’ll need to make up for it in the cup final.

Be typical if Everton nicked it after the stick we've given them this season !
I can see Palace beating them...
We need to focus on beating Wolves...
They still have to play Liverpool on the final day. A draw would do for Watford.
If we do draw they have Fulham at home next and we have Chelsea away. If those games go to form we go into the final game 4 points behind wolves.
2 draws in our next 2 games would give us a chance I think but it becomes so much more straight forward if we can beat them.
Agreed, DD! I would love to see my club in Europe again. Last time is a decade ago and it won't happen in many years to come. Was always something special to see foreign teams in the Volkspark and not only bloody FC Bayern ( for us North Germans they're foreigners, too )
