So the final stretch is upon us and there have been standout managerial peformances with Wagner being crowned manager of the year for the team of the year, Monk doing great at Leeds, Grayson at Preston. With regards to Rafa I would give him a Solid 7/10. On the positive side he has galvanised the club, took us to the top of the division and we have the best away record by a considerable distance. Big wins in the transfer market with Yedlin, Ritchie, Gayle and Clark (possibly Murphy). However, Newcastles yearly budget dwarves most of the other sides and we have no real identity in the way we play. His substitutions and in game management have been horrendous and we have only the 8th best home record in the division. Both home and away we are outplayed by the opposition for long periods of a match with the reliance on having better technical and clinical players to get us a result. I mentioned the players that have been a success but then you consider he has also bought in Sels, Gamez, Lazaar, Hanley who collectively cost £15m and haven't really kicked a ball. There's also been a failure to capitalise on strong positions in the league and kick on. He gets 7/10 for me as if you're paying a manager £5m a year, providing him with £55m to spend (yes we made a net profit of £30m but he still had £55m to spend on players) plus the biggest playing budget I'd expect more than being outplayed for large periods of games at Burton, Rotherham, Wigan and when 52000 are turning up on a regular basis the 8th best home record is just not good enough.
