Nobody should be miserable about having to work on this day or that. If you have a job, then you're in a better position that those that don't have work and need it.

I sometimes complain about a bad day, but I'll never stop being grateful that I have employment.

Forget insanity. Just eat correctly... Get a workout regime and skip. And stick to that.

Insanity will be tough and you won't look like the guys on the screen so you'll lose interest. Takes a lot of time and a real effort to stick with it.

A couple of months ago I went to Koh Chang in Thailand. It's part of an archipelago of the same name and it's really lovely there. Anyway, one day we went on a snorkelling trip and as I hadn't got any gear of my own I had to rent a cheap crappy one off the boat that we were on. Third swim of the day in, I was snorkelling just above a reef when my tube started taking water in. I was about two feet above rough coral and rock and couldn't stand up so I had to swim three metres with sea water in my lungs. If that wasn't bad enough I was then out of my depth so had to spit the tube out of my mouth and try to clear the water I'd swallowed whilst treading water, not easy when you're in the sea and the water's choppy. On top of that, while I was thrashing around my wedding ring came off my finger, and after a few minutes recovery went back to where I'd nigh on feckin' drowned by couldn't find the ring.

I swam back to the shore after a few minutes of searching, no ring, deep cut on my leg where I hadn't missed the coral after all, back to my wife to tell her that I'd lost my wedding ring. I didn't tell her about my dice with death although I think she knew that more than just the loss of a band of gold was up with me.

    That was a shit day..
