I don’t disagree, my argumentative buddy. I just found it odd to understand one but not the other, when by simply remembering the number ‘16’, you can convert one to the other anyway.

Not trying to be argumentative, I was just telling you why I find it hard to work in imperial. There is absolutely no logic to it so I can completely see where Jase is coming from.

Yeah metric is much better. Though when I consider distances, I think of it in miles, instead of km! :D

Quite a brutal weekend (not talking about Liverpool). My mother was experiencing some numbness on her legs that quickly moved up her body. She lives in a pretty rural part of New Mexico, but they had her rushed to the nearest big city hospital for scans. Luckily MS and a stroke have been ruled out, but she's currently in surgery as they need to resolve a progressive spinal injury that was damaging her nerves. Hopefully she'll be able to keep control of her limbs after this.

Really sorry to hear that. Hopefully it is all treatable.

Knowing what to say to the person going through something like that is always the worst, but I think you just being there for them is a strong gesture. Positive vibes to you and yours, buddy.

Sorry to hear this about your mum. It's good MS and stroke have been ruled out, hoping the surgery is a resounding success mate.

We've had the same with my grandmother ever since my first grandad died (roughly 4 years ago). She just goes through the motions on a daily basis just existing, not living. From the outside looking in she has a very good life, she's one of the fittest, healthiest 81 year olds you could ever meet, she does loads of stuff with friends and family but the one thing she wants/needs is the one thing nobody can get back for her.

Try and encourage your mum to go to grief counselling of some sort, maybe even suggest going together if you think it'll help.

Back in the office at 08:10 this morning, Feeling a bit jetlagged but the wheelchair is in the car not in the office so that's a win :)

Weekends like this happen very infrequently in my line of work. I'm the Senior Program Manager but when we have big implementation weekends like this my projct managers, test guys developers and Integration managers are all up and working these hours as well so it's only right and fair I'm there to support them to manage escalations or issues when they happen. Technically I'm fvckall use, but when it comes to keeping people fed and fuelled up with coffee and redbull (other energy drinks are available) to keep them going, to ensure if someone does need to stop or take a break I can swap them out for a fresh resource.

It's unusual for someone in my role to stand up with the team through a whole window with the guys, but to be honest for me it's a duty of care thing, I shouldn't be asking anyone to do something I'm not willing to do myself. :shrug

I hope your mum is coming through this well Marty and the surgury has done what it needed to do

Wait, Marty is actually called Jamie?!?

If ever there was a reason to be miserable, it's being lied to on an internet forum...
