I just found out the new Resident Evil (VIII) is going to be a FP sequel of VII, which I didn't like.

The wife's mother is not in a good place mentally at the moment ,the wife has been proposing for weeks that we move to Languedoc so she can be near her family . Ive been absolutely dreading this turn of events ,but it was always on the cards, the wife is intent on traveling over as soon as flights are available again, the thing is I dont think she will be coming back. I mean we've discussed the possibilities of such a move, but I have no intention of leaving England however enticing whiling away the rest of my existence in the South of France may seem to other people ,it would bore me to death and I would end up looking for ways to derail the whole experience in order to get back ,the wife on the other hand is determined to be with her mum . Another marriage destined for failure :(

Perhaps a long drive down there and bring her mum back to the UK for a while rather than your family being sawn in half?

For such an advocate of mental health you seem to quite enjoy shutting people down.

I've already suggested she lives with us,but she is loath to leave the family home and the memories of her husband. I'm afraid if its a battle of the obdurate there will only be on winner Trace. Its just one of those things kid , I guess I'm just fated to have short marriages ;)

Dropping the mask for a moment ,the wife and myself spent practically the whole day talking through the situation we find ourselves currently in and she has suggested she moves over there for 6 months until her brother is able to move back in,he's currently living in Paris with his girlfriend and is apparently keen to lay down roots by buying the family home from his mother. I think this is the predominant reason why she's so determined to stay rather than sell the house to strangers. The wife has threw more than enough hints that we ourselves purchase it and trust me she can be extremely persuasive ,but thus far I've managed to stave off the titty lip pleading. I fully understand Its not a good place we find ourselves in and if I'm being completely candid being apart from her is the last thing I want.

That doesn’t sound easy at all but it does sound like perhaps the lesser evil in this scenario, good that you could talk it through mate.

It’s a horrible situation but the fact that you don’t want to be without her and you can sit and talk about it, shows your marriage is worth a lot. I hope you can find a way that works for you both. Communication is so important x

The open conversations and the honesty as CF says shows that it's not a hopeless situation for your relationship is concerned, it's important to you both to hold things together.

The 6 months could be looked at in the same sort of way that military families deal with deployment - ensure you have a way of talking, planned visits, parcels and gifts, something like that can make it an important bonding experience rather than a wedge between you.

If her brother plans to move home and pick up the reins then there's an exit plan in place for your wife to spend the time she needs but to come home too
