I'm absolutely gutted for Luke Shaw but with his horrific injury now comes an opportunity for Bertrand to make his case for Euro 2016. He'll be fit in a few weeks and if he picks up last seasons form he'll be in the squad.

Baines will go as first choice LB you would imagine. It's Roy after all.

He's the forgotten man. Bertrand has already had a recent call up as well, so fingers crossed.

Bertrand is a great player, I would of taken him and Shaw over Baines anyway. Danny Rose has an outside chance of getting some games now too, seeing as he has been in and around the squad for a while. He isn't as good as Bertrand though.

Good job we have a few options at left back.

Mind you Jones or Smalling will probably get a game there!

This. Would like to see Bertrand get a shot and maybe even Targett. Gibbs shouldn't be near the squad 'cos he never plays ffs

Baines - simply not International material.

Gibbs - Never rated him. He's quick and...............??? What else?

So for me, with Shaw out, it depends on the opposition. Against weaker sides we are expected to beat I'd go with Aaron Cresswell. Against the better sides I'd go with Bertrand.

He's better than Gibbs and Targett.

Baines is a very average defender. He's good at crossing and set pieces, he's not good at defending.

Bertrand and Gibbs the best options behind Shaw. I'd still consider Ashley Cole if he was playing well for his club. An outstanding England player. Evra's still first choice for France.

Our LB Holebas was keeping Ashley Cole out of the Roma side last season

I thought Cole should have been at the World Cup but yeah if he's not playing regularly to a high standard then he shouldn't be considered now. If he was playing well for Roma then he'd be the first choice for me.

No mention of Rose yet, shame on all of you

One of our best players last season.

Can't say I'm a big fan of Rose. Flanagan if he wan't injured would be considered

Cresswell and target for England?

    Neither are good enough.

West Ham fans have been pleased/rate Cresswell do they not? He seems to look decent for them anyways. In that Bournemouth 4-3 it was Jenkinson who got sent off after getting mugged off by Gradel.

Rose and Gibbs have both had caps for England so I don't see the harm in letting Cresswell play some freindly's and/or against the weakest sides from our group

Stunned people are mentioning Targett tbh. Like the lad, will be a solid player, but not international quality unless there is a huge and unexpected increase in quality.

Bertrand should be first choice now but it took something like 2 injuries and a drop out for him to get a call up last season didn't it? For some reason Hodgson really just doesn't want to pick him.
