So expect to see Johnson stay on the left now. The deal for Konchesky is only an emergency loan but atleast it keeps him away from our first team!!

But who else has Villa got who can play left back? Leaving it a little too late unless Villa have something lined up themselves!

Best move for all involved ..

I am happy to see Johnson remain on the left personally as he is improving there already and also it is good to see Kelly get his chance at right back because of this as the lad needed his chance and needed to prove if he has more than just potential.

Yep i agree. We look better with Johnson and Kelly both playing. Hopefully we concentrate on getting the wingers that we are so desperately crying out for!

I doubt we'll see them this transfer window even if Torres goes as it'd be too late .. but i agree, we lack width and pace and have done for years now and we need it.

How about bringing Malouda to us as part of the Torres deal if it goes ahead? I wouldn't mind Yossi coming back to us aswell! 40 mill plus them 2 players....i would probably take it!

I wouldn't want any of their players within the deal to be honest ... Malouda is almost 31 and at his age would be a waste at only a stop gap signing.

I think if he goes we need to get as much money as we can and nothing else.

I'd take Malouda right now, even if we only got 18 months out of him he's been pretty decent the last few seasons and seeing how desperate Roman is for Torres, we'd have gotten him for next to nothing. Then we spend those 18 months looking for a long term replacement.

Definitely arriving from Villa is Stephen Warnock and the left-back is returning to Anfield after being dumped by Gerard Houllier.

Warnock will become Liverpool's new left-back after Paul Konchesky's brief and unhappy Anfield career ended today when he joined Nottingham Forest on loan for the rest of the season.

    Sez The Mirror.

Good aquisition that. 4 scousers in the first team, 5 if Spearing plays.

Good. Warnock though, seriously? Not too sure about that one. I'd rather see Fabio play there, Kelly right back and Johnson right wing. At least until we find a decent left back... and I'd struggle to place Warnock in that category.

I just don't think he is consistent enough ... i'd rather have Essien but that's not going to happen.

When transfers like this happen so late it makes it difficult to look past stop gap players due to the rush, the timing of all is sickening.

    Warnock is just a loan.
