Carrying on from Habbinalan's threads about seaside resorts, doctors & trains I thought it appropriate that we should have one about football songs.
Not songs released for cup finals or tournaments like Three Lions, Anfield Rap or Blue is the colour, just general songs.

Pushing the boundaries a bit. If anything, it's actually refering to hurling with a nod towards gaelic football. Nevertheless, they capture some of the feelings of following the likes of the U's and Barrow AFC.

Get back to your taramasalata and oatcakes (if they travel that far) and find us some decent bouzouki music

. Jesus Christ, Habbin. My favourite Stones song and then with bouzouki. Sacrilege ;)

btw: In the 80's there was an US Series about the Vietnam War, called "Nam". I watched it mainly because of the Intro:

OK, this has nothing to do with "song that refer to football" but I had to mention it ;)

btt: How about a song about my HSV called Hamburger Jungz (Hamburg Boys)?

and here, live played in the Volkspark a few years ago in a pre-match gig before the match against Borussia Dortmund (when we were still in Bundesliga1:()

"Sekt für die Nutten, Champagner für uns. Wir sind alle Hamburger Jungs! " (Sparkling wine for the sluts, Champagne for us. We're all Hamburg Boys ")

As most people know my taste in music is mainly U.K. rap. For whatever reason there’s a real connection with tonnes of football bars in rap songs. So instead I’ll enlighten people to the fact that there are at least 2 professional footballers who also have a career as rappers.

Matt Robinson has played nearly 100 games for Dagenham, and made nearly 50 appearances for Luton. He also raps under the name Kamakaze. His most watched video had 3 million views.

Medy Elito has played for a tonne of lower league clubs including Dagenham, Cambridge & Newport. He’s also got a few caps at youth level for England. But when he puts on a cheap V for Vendetta mask he becomes Don-EE and racks up 6 million views on his first proper song.

    Ah! The Blessed Melito!

Source of many discussions and distractions for some of us on 1FF. Somehow, we even got him off our books and down the road to Barnet.

Introduced me to (and put me off) a whole new music scene. However he did exploit some pretty ladies.

Barnet are my second team and he’s done okay there tbh. He even caused Brighton some problems when we won L1. Looked a decent player back then.

His type of music would probably be afrobeats, which is a cross between Dancehall from Jamaica and British rap. If it makes you feel better he’s pretty shit; and there are much better artists in the genre

Been a big fan of Reggae, Ska and their derivatives, from the days of Aswad and Steel Pulse, through Sly & Robbie to Dancehall and back to the roots. Rap never captured me, although I love the music (and writing) of Gil Scott Heron.

You're right. Medy, unfortunately along with any modern afrobeats connections I tried, were not only not to my taste but pretty shit. I have found some of the stuff I picked up on my travels much better.but nothing to touch the Fela Kuti vinyl I bought first time round in the 70s/80s.

Would of been a decent tune but the racism spoils it.

Niche one for yous. This little gem is pretty unknown and only has 89k YouTube views.

Has a line that says "One girl's gone and on the phone, run like Christian Maggio."
