IT'S BEEN 25 YEARS SINCE PICARD LEFT OUR TV SCREENS!!
25 YEARS SINCE Q UTTERED THOSE SACRED WORDS TO PICARD... SINCE THE JUDGEMENT OF HUMANITY WAS OVER. AND NOW HE'S BACK!!

at almost 80 years of age sir Patrick stewart has donned the uniform and transported himself back to the 24th century. for me I am hoping this show is the dogs b*ll*x. for me star trek hasn't really been the same since Voyager ended. ENT was okay in parts but largely mediocre. DISC is a disappointment for me.. I know a lot of people like it but for me it doesn't really feel like a star trek programme. it doesn't have that Roddenberry ethos behind it. the same is true of the 3 abrams movies.
in these EVIL fascistic times of Donald trump we need a hero. if theres one man who can restore my faith in ST and humanity it's JEAN LUC PICARD!!

Yeah I'll be watching this with interest. Been warming up for it by rewatching TNG over the last few months.

it's finally back and I joined up to amazon prime just to watch it.

first episode I would say overall positive. nothing mind-blowing amazing but a solid start. already I would say it's miles better that DISCO.
I know it's 21st century and its serialised and laden with special effects but I still think it evokes the heart of TNG... or star trek in general for that matter. the plot is interesting and stewart is great as ever.
the final shot of the episode was great..... very juicy to be continued....

I've just finished watching ep.1 and it was alright, I'll never get used to Bourne Identity style fighting in Star Trek, nor the beautiful cinematic style that all tv shows are filmed in these days. But, I wasn't bored or insulted by anything in the episode.

I'm weary because I feel it may drift into becoming focused upon action with wacky characters and witty dialogue. I won't judge it properly until I've seen a few episodes though because I have no idea where things are headed. All that said, it's already better than Discovery which was a disgrace from the very moment it aired. Look forward to ep.2.

I'm not what i'd call a big Star Trek fan but I used to love TNG when I was younger so for that reason, I think i'll give this a go.

    How many episodes are there?

3 episodes so far. It’s been a decent start but no real fireworks yet. Hopefully it will pick up now.

won’t lie I absolutely LOVED the way episode 3 ended. The episode itself was okay but the last ten seconds were great fan service.. you just hear picard say those magical words “engage” whilst the original Star Trek theme is briefly played (the theme from the Kirk films).

I've seen mostly bad reviews but i'll try it for myself soon, i prefer Babylon 5 to Star Trek so maybe i'll like it.

Think Star trek is way past it's sell by date....Loved it over the years, but can't get interest up now.

I've watched them all so far and unfortunately I agree. Picard was a starfleet captain/Admiral in charge of the flagship. Now he's just and old c*nt running around in a shitty little ship.

It's just too distant from what Star Trek has always been about. There's no joy or wonder in it any more, it's very much a product of a more cynical time.

If most enjoy that then that's fine. But for me, it bears so little resemblance to what Gene Roddenberry created that I don't recognise it. So yeah, screw this. I don't know why I would watch a 'Star Trek' show that looks and feels nothing like Star Trek.

Totally agree with you. I’ll still finish it because I’m a sad c*nt but it’s nothing like TNG at all.

Always make up your own mind in the end.

I never watched Babylon 5. I'm aware of it mostly because of the claims that Star Trek: DS9 stole the concept from Babylon 5. I don't know how true that is but the similarly of setting is striking.

Babylon 5 is a class show mate, i watch every series about once a year so that's over 100 episodes but the spin off films are crap! Give it a go i think you'll enjoy it.
