According to the Italian Media, Fulham have agreed a fee of around £3.5m with Roma to sign their Dutch International goalkeeper Maartern Stekelenburg.

Stekelenburg famously flew to London on the last day of the January window, only to have to return on the same plane when Roma pulled out of the deal as they'd failed to sign a replacement. There were reports that a deal was still in place with Roma for him to join in the summer and it appears Fulham are wasting no time in getting him signed up.

With Mark Schwarzer being 40 years old, his days at Fulham are numbered.

The fact we're replacing one 1st class International keeper with another ten years younger is good news.

Fulham getting the business done early, good signing. I think Schwarzer wants to carry on until the 2014 world cup, so last season could be his last. He'll want to be playing regularly, so he could return home to the A League or possibly to one of the newly promoted teams for a season.

Nothing confirmed yet but the sooner the better.

This will be our third signing over the past week and I'm hoping for 3 or 4 more before the start of next season. We've got a rumoured £20m to spend which might not sound much, but I can't complain.

Heard that rumour quite a lot. He'll be a good signing, but Schwarzer is still a very able premier league goalkeeper. It's odd that they've replaced him with someone who's no youngster himself.

    That's a hell of a signing for a mid-table side. Quality keeper.

Manchester United should have signed him instead of De Gea.

Very happy with this! An ideal replacement for Schwarzer.
