Lets give this topic a good old ThePompeyMaster' dust down!

So, I imagine you'll need 2 new strikers, possibly Defoe and maybe Hooper from Celtic??

Sunderland is one of the clubs I'd most like to see him sign for.

I don't think you will regret it if you spend 12m on him, you will get more than that for him on a few years he is quality.

For a team that scored 40 goals the entire year, his total isn't too bad.

Pretty sure there are better players around for that cash. Saying that he is probably better than i give him credit for as wolves did have an awful season.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-standings-is-looking-increasingly-realistic?

Top eight now looking like a reality for the Black Cats. Adam Johnson has made a good move to the Stadium of Light and Steven Fletcher this should improve Sunderland. O'Neill with the Black Cats can make them a threat this season.

Adam Johnson is hideously overhyped, but Sunderland is about his level and these latest two signings are pure O'Neill prototypes. Just spunk a load of money at brits.

    Quite pleased with both signings.

Not sure about the Fletcher fee but hopefully he will prove his worth. Taking into consideration the sell on clause and burnley getting a percentage I can see why wolves wanted so much to make a little profit for the self's.

I think they are players that will fit into our team well, MoN likes his pacey wingers, McClean Johnson and Sess playing behind fletch seems like quite a potent mix to me.

Possibly because he's from that area? Given the choice of there and London he was always going to choose Sunderland.

Quite the opposite I feel, IMO he was underrated by Mancini and I for one am gutted to see him go... should have been given more playing time.
His likely replacement Scott Sinclair is much more overhyped, would have preferred to have kept Johnson.

This isn't a dig at Liverpool, but he's better than Downing, and (as I've said elsewhere) if Jarvis commands a fee of £10.75m, then this should be a £15m+ transfer. I reckon Sunderland is probably below his level to be honest.

Johnson is better than most of the signings you made last year.
