Thought we needed a thread in which we can take about anything Liverpool which isn't worthy of starting a thread.

Was watching soccerAM this morning (i know... what the £[email protected]$) to my surprise Rafa was on soccerAM?

Some of thing he spoke about.

    • Rafa on Allardyce and why Allardyce didn't like him. "I met him in my office after the game and told him what I thought of him"
    • Rafa spoke about what happened in the dress room at half..... That was just brilliant.
    • Rafa for England (Joke...ish way)

Does this mean we must take SoccerAM serious from now on?

TBF, He was highly respected on AM, some of the press are also slowly warming, mybe it because he no longer a manager of an English club? But the best part was when Rafa spoke about why Allardyce didn't like him.

Rafa said: "I met him in my office after the game and told him what I thought of him" i would love to of heard what Rafa said/called him :laugh: The whole studio was in bulk....

I'll have to wait for his book....

Rafa = absolute legend, **** cares what all the haters say about the man. Be it his donations when he left the club, his continued support of numerous local charities, the class he showed at the Hillsborough memorial and just his general attitude towards all thing Liverpool. He's also a far better manager than people ever gave him credit.

May he continue to wind non-Liverpool fans up forever as well

As pointed out in couple of posts, there are players which just aren't suited to particular clubs...... with Rafa its the opposite... if there's a club that's was made for him, it Liverpool FC... they go hand in hand & make perfect partnership. I can see Rafa returning one day in the future.... hopefully with descent owners.

Not many "outsiders" come to Anfield & understand what we have been brought up on, Rafa does, the man was shafted from the highest , a ****in legend.

Dickhead Libpool "fans" again pushed him out

Wasn't a dig at you mate, it just makes me laugh thinking of what the press would do.

Tbf, he was the best manager in my relatively short time supporting the club (Houllier was when I started really paying attention, so that's not saying much )

    Good read.

Barclay is just an agenda driving muppet though, I've no interest in anything his says anymore. Has any sacked manager ever received as much journalistic/media support as Roy Hodgson though? For people to even question whether Dalglish has done more than him is absurd. Look at where we were heading under Roy, and where we are now.

Paddy Barclay comes out with stuff I don't think he even believes half the time. The bloke seems to have had a common sense bypass.

I'm 25 years old. I was force fed Liverpool videos and quite literally terrified by my Dad into supporting Liverpool. You know how you hear of those pychotic parents who lock their child in a basement and tell them that cats are dogs and it's socially acceptable to take a dump in the street before unleashing them on the world when they're 18? It was kind of like that.

Anyway, the videos and shirts and countless stories being bestowed upon me seemed quite benign as I was busy being a child and not really taking any real notice of Liverpool FC. Then when I was about 7 years old my Dad took me to Anfield. It was Liverpool vs Sheffield United and Ian Rush scored a goal after about 4 minutes. I don't remember anything else but apparently it was a dire game. We won 1-0. The moment I saw Rushie score that goal I was hooked(I look forward to telling my kids and grandkids "I saw Rushie" just like my Dad still says "I saw Dalglish").

There was just one problem. It soon turned out that Liverpool didn't win every week, Graeme Souness was manager and we were getting used to finishing between 6th and 8th. This was all I had physically ever known of Liverpool FC so it shouldn't have been as bad as it was. However, what made it worse was my Dad constantly banging on about travelling across Europe, being a so much better than everyone else, Rome, Wembley, Paris, Rome. At the time I thought "you b*stard" but looking back it must have been terrible for him as well watching what Liverpool FC had become.

Fast forward 25th of May 2005 and my Dad and I are at the Ataturk, Istanbul, red ticker tape everywhere, grown men are crying (Yes, including me and Dad). Everything he had been saying and reminiscing about for all those years finally made sense. I knew at that moment every Liverpool fan across the world who were in the same boat as me finally 'got it' and one of the major reasons we 'got it': RAFA.

We were nowhere near the best team in Europe that year. We were 5th in the Premier League! Some of the same old problems were still there both on and of the pitch but it really didn't matter. Not that night.

Rafa got some things wrong in his time and we're allowed to point them out, that's part of being a fan! However, we can never, ever say he didn't act in the best interests of Liverpool Football Club at all times. He took us to his heart as much as we did him. There was a man who 'got it'.

    Thank you Rafael Benitez.

Barclay and Lawton can f*ck off.
