I'm a bit shocked to be honest. He's guided her and gets shot. I hope she's not letting it get to her head.

I hope he's at least kept in her team in some capacity.

Yes - you don't want to get a reputation for dropping coaches at such a young age although maybe many do?

Apparently generally Emma and her family can be quite ruthless with picking who works with her but guess they will say it's worked so far.

Saw this comment on another forum.

    "
There was an article in the Daily Telegraph by Simon Briggs about how the Raducanus go through coaches. They are quite ruthless:

" Most people who are getting established in the game look at an experienced coach and assume that they must be an expert. With the Raducanus, it′s the other way around. You have to impress them, even if you have a big reputation, because they start from the principle that most people dont actually know what they're talking about.

"Then they size you up, suck out all the information they can get from you, and move on. It's a brilliant method, although it's quite bruising to the egos of people who think they have all-round mastery of coaching. Because these people are often being asked for some specific information, like ′how can I get more width on my backhand return?′ or whatever it is. Then it′s ′OK I've got it, thank you very much. Bye.′"

I'm sure Andrew was her first Coach?

Murray went through a couple I believe before Lendl brought the success.

My initial reaction was the same, but then he's only been her coach for all of five minutes, and they are extraordinary circumstances - after one tournament all of her short-, medium- and long-term goals have changed. And ultimately he's not the reason she won the US Open.

Murray indeed went through a few coaches, and I think is still on very good terms with a number of them. Petch in particular I think he is still quite close with, but if you want to be a champion-level player, you can't be sentimental about such things and just stick with someone for the long haul because you like them. I don't think you tend to get major winners in any sport who don't possess a ruthless streak a mile wide.

This Laver cup is rather one sided isn’t it ?!

    Europe 11-1 up!

Maybe not a shock looking at the 2 teams .

Yeah, I've never watched it. Supposed to throw up quite a few entertaining matches, but it's ultimately an exhibition. I don't really see the point. Europe obviously dominates tennis, has done for a long time, and will do for a long time to come. Only have to look at the active players who aren't there for Europe, both young and old, to see how absurdly unbalanced it is. Even if it weren't the case, I doubt I'd ever buy into the concept of Europe v the rest of the world...

I think for those who watch it, a lot of the appeal is seeing the exchanges on the sidelines, and the odd alliances that form at times.

Didn’t see it - the run had to end at some point.

Good win for Murray after his dramas in the week.

Definitely a hang over. It remains to be seen whether she'll kick on or slip down.

A dip was always likely, but it was not the way to lose, just really, really bad. Attitude seemed off, terrible body language, and as if she didn't want to be there. Just constantly bashing to go after winners, no patience, no composure. Indian Wells is a tough place to play for the first time with the dry air and painfully slow courts. Hopefully she can get away from the circus surrounding her lately and focus on her tennis.

Was quite the contrast going from that to Murray's match. Good performance, very smart, ultra-competitive as always. Occasionally you get a jarring reminder of the absolute chasm between the two tours.

Of course she will no doubt have loads of end of season/year awards to collect or interviews to do which might play on her mind.

Like you say there will be increased pressure and expectation on here tennis now.

Yes - I think the likes of Andreescu, Swiatek, Emma actually made it harder for their own development by winning so big so early, and for Emma it was ridiculously early. Of course none of them would ever trade winning that major title, but it doesn't half complicate things. I mean I don't think Emma's actually even won a tour match yet. It's such a bizarre situation. She's accomplished the achievement which is at the end of the road, yet now she's got to learn how to get started on the road, and travel it on a weekly basis... it's mad. And made all the harder as she has so many distractions and a target on her back.

Murray with an excellent win again.

    Zverev next.

    3 Brits into Round 3.

Good win for Cam Norrie v RBA.

Will play Tommy Paul next who beat Rublev.

Cam Norrie through to his first ever Masters semi.

Very impressive on what has been a pretty consistent season - 5 finals and one title.

Yes, great season for him. He and Dan both very close to the top 20 - I assume Cam will be there with 360 points coming his way now. Both have exceeded expectations. I do wonder what is happening with Kyle's knee - he seems to have just disappeared. Feel as though it's going to be tough for him to make his way back.

Crazy amount of upsets at Indian Wells. Grigor seems to be having his annual good tournament.

Basilashvili keeps up the trend of surprise semi finalists beating Tsitsipas in 3.

    And Fitz beats Zverev.

Any of the final 4 are going to think they can win !
