You've got me there. I've failed the British fish
Large fish & chips with curry x3
F**king shambles, this country has gone to the dogs
The news is that almost 1,500 firms have applied to continue operating in the UK, and in order to operate on a ‘services’ passport, they would need to set up a UK office for the first time. In reality these offices will be in name only.
Nobody is suggesting that the UK will cease to be a major player in this industry, but the limitations of the deal we have does make it more difficult for the UK, and there's already been a shift in business to other EU countries. The government needs to stand by our main industry, and do more to help it trade with the EU and third parties.
so they were £7.50 odd and you had curry
What shift? The volume that has been moved from the City to any of the EU financial centres is a drop in the ocean. The most that's happened is a bit of EU stock trading being moved to Amsterdam that used to be done in the City, but even then it's low profit crap that's been moved. All the big important trades are still being done in the City.
I do agree that the government needs to help the City more, they should get rid of Basel III
A drop in the ocean that amounts to more than the entire prized fishing industry that receives all of the attention. The government should push for more global convergence in financial standards and for the UK to take the lead in institutions like WTO and Basel, as well as reaching an agreement with the EU on mutual recognition. The industry has been completely ignored so far.

Shouldn't be more than a fiver, JT. My great-grandad was fond of telling us that you could get a sackful of chips for tuppence back in the good old days, that's the kind of former glory we should be looking to regain.
Nah, now we have stopped the EU over fishing our lads can pick and choose the best fish for our chippies.
We're having fish and chips for tea on Saturday. Not had proper chip shop chips for ages.
Remember chips and gravy being less than 20p, was £2.50 last time I went the other month. Even beer in a pub hasn't gone up at that rate. Weirdest thing is that you can get a big telly for half the price they were 40 years ago.
Some places charge for scraps now too.
Bus Fares must have increased well above inflation.
I was disappointed that my last fish and chip order didn't come wrapped in a tabloid newspaper as well. I was looking forward to reading bits of the latest news off each chip
Ah chips in a bag open, all vinegar soaked to bottom. Way better than plastic ****ing trays.
Not sure what skank ass chippy you went @Tomohawk but they were only wrapped on outside in newspaper ...and still are in some areas????
What's the point in that? The chips are nothing if they are not coated in tabloid ink and getting this back is precisely why I voted for and continue to support Brexit
What are you actually trying to achieve here?
To get chips in newspaper...pretty obvious really
I need to change my chippy then because I didn't. The one I went to must be run by remoaners not happy about doing things differently than the EU
Give it a rest mate. Its tedious and dull.
