Interesting point on breakfast TV which hadn't occurred to me, the French can claim that people clambering into rubber dinghies and setting off into the channel isn't illegal on their side, no offence is being committed technically? :hmmm

Yeah, fair point. But they could also stop treating refugees like shit and thus causing more to want to get out of there to the UK. Numerous times France has been called out for human rights abuses with regards to their actions towards asylum seekers in their country.

BBC did a report this week showing the squalid conditions and the constant harassment those in Calais are subjected to by the French police.

I watched some of Euronews to get a French perspective .
They say that they stopped 671 people yesterday .
I felt sorry for a chap called Charles Devos who picked up 6 of the dead bodies including 1 pregnant woman .
There's lots of French people protesting against the French interior minister around Calais but despite all that's gone on yesterday around 25 boats have set sail today ( utter madness )

My work takes me to some pretty squalid places here in Manchester/Oldham/Rochdale where some of these poor people end up. I can't imagine what it's like to be a family of 3 in a one roomed flat, barely speaking English and only here because everywhere else you've been has treated you like shit too.

More likely the Elections are not far away & to rebuff the English ( UK ) would & could be seen as positive posturing .

This will be all forgot about & swept under the carpet in a few weeks .

With technology as good as it is these days I'm surprised that they can't find where the X amount of boats are being delivered to , where they've come from & who's paying for them ?

With the new Covid strain making worldwide news this issue will be swept back under the carpet despite the cross channel bitching over who's aunties got the biggest bingo wings

Like most serious organised crime it'll be arranged deep in the dark web where it's very difficult to trace, paid for in cash or dodgy crypto currencies and transported without any way of tracing it. These boats are probably being knocked up somewhere cheap and with no scruples like China and smuggled into Europe.

The ones I've seen (on telly) recently were horrendously cheap self assembly death traps, basically a large inflatable 'U' with some bits of plywood to stiffen.
