You lot make me f*cking sick. I can’t get up two flights of stairs without being f*cked and you’re all running kilometres for fun.

Did another cross fit class on Wednesday lunch time, that one was bit easier. Quick warm up on the rower. Then there were four sets of various exercises (AMRAP) to do within a three minute period, one minute rest between each period.

    1st 3min AMRAP
    10 x Deadlifts
10 x Burpees over the bar

    2nd 3min AMRAP
    5 x wall balls using a 9kg ball
    5 x pull ups

    3rd 3min AMRAP
    15 squats
    15 sit ups
    15 press ups

    4th 3min AMRAP
Row until you've burned 15 calories
    Ski machine until 15 cal
    Air bike until 15 cal.

Then to finish is off, we did a 21/15/9 cal on the final three above.
21 cal on the rower, then the ski, then the bike. Then 15 on each, then 9 on each. As fast as possible.

Had a rest day yesterday and will take it easy in the gym tonight, probably just do some weights.

Anyone here a keen cyclist or commutes on bike to work?

I'm looking into cycling to work (about 9 miles away). Seen a second hand Specialized Diverge road bike that looks good. Is it worth doing?

Trying to weigh up the pros and cons at the moment:

Pros: great for fitness and weight loss.
Wake me up in the morning.
Save money using my car although I still need to keep it.

Cons: my commute will probably treble in time.
There's a killer hill right near my work which will be a nightmare going up to work and could possibly kill me coming down it to go home .
Winter is coming, not so fun riding in the dark when it's pissing it down.
    No shower facilities at work.

If you live somewhere with rush hour you will probably get home quicker. Used to cycle to work loved it but get gloves in winter unless you want for your hands to go numb and stiff. Trying to press the brake like that in a rush is hard haha.

I say Just go for it that hill will be easy after a while plus if it's steep going up that means it's steep going down on the way back perfect.

I'm a teacher. Kids stink anyway so one extra weird smell probably won't make a difference

    Fair enough

Personally I think you've left it a little late, biking in the cold, wet and dark isn't fun, and it's only going to get colder, wetter and darker in the coming months. I've just signed back up to the gym because the dark nights are coming in and I'm not a fan of jogging outside in the dark, but in the summer it was lovely.

I used to cycle to college many years ago which was 7 or 8 miles, though I could shower when I got there. For fitness you can't beat it, if you can get the motivation to do a twice daily ride it'll do you wonders, you'll feel great when you're in the rhythm of it.

I 'runcommute' - well I do the bit from Bedfordshire to London on the train obvs! But a nice 3-4 miles around Regents pk before work is lovely.

But the showers at work thing is a massive issue. We have them, but there's so many folk who don't run/cycle to work as there's no showering facilities.

I've had to take a 2 week hiatus from running which was disappointing. But as expected my knees didn't enjoy it as much as the rest of me.

Been out today though for a short 3.5km run and have used compression supports on both knees so will have to see how they are in the coming days. I probably look daft out running with both knees strapped up but if it does the trick and allows me to keep running then it's all good for me
