Current endurance running theory to save the knees is that you should land as close to the front of the foot as you comfortably can, and only take short strides.

That's me - along Euston Rd 3 times a week towards Baker St and up to Lords. 4 miles before work.

I'm hoping the nice top section through Regents pk makes up for the cocktail of fumes I get to start with :hmmm

Been slowly chipping away at the fat lately, down to 17% from 19%, finally see the left side of my abs showing through properly (the right side are stubborn ****ers, probably need to be 13% to see em).
Feel stronger, asthma has basically gone, my heart rate has steadied up (unless its having an episode), my weak areas like my chest/triceps/lats are starting to fill out, and I've had about 10 people from my gym saying I'm looking noticeably leaner and stronger the last two weeks, which is the confidence boost I needed.

Think i'm finally ready to get back into competitive sports, been a long time since I've had the motivation or been in the condition for that.
    This.
I dont know how people land on their heels, just the thought physically hurts me
I dont think it helps that trainer companies make their shoes so clunky with padding and make people assume you need to hit the heel, also wearing those types of shoes makes it near impossible to run comfortably landing on the ball of your foot so it's a bit of a cycle.
Gimmicky shit if you ask me.

I go for a thin soled running shoe like those you can get from Inov8, barely feel them and offer the protection you need while not hindering your stride.

Unless it's the Nike 5% - the ones going for £240 with the carbon fibre plate. They do work, everyone who is into road running is into them, they have to really. Ridiculous price though.

    Well done WarsawPact, some effort.

I've been increasing my running in the past few weeks. I can slowly feel my fitness improving, and I'm confident I'll get my fitness back to a place where I'm happy with it again. I had shin splints at the start of the year, might have mentioned it in here, and improving the strength of my glute muscles has really helped to alleviate that. Been smashing deadlifts as much as I can and I'm going to be adding more core and upper body exercises at the gym too.

Bloody hell WP - that is a bit of a way. Once again made a solemn pledge to my quads after Berlin in 2015 that I wouldn't do a silly distance again!

Had htat bloody cold/throat/headache thing that's been going about - had to miss our first xc league thing because of it last weekend, which was a pain. Hopefully ok now as back on it with xc relays this saturday.

Watford away Saturday week with beer and curry will set me back a day though I'm sure...

Hats off to long distance runners, it is never something I have been able to really get into despite trying. I see runners on the tv and strangers jogging down my street looking free, energised and relaxed. I look like I’ve just had a stroke and need serious medical attention. Not for me unfortunately.

    Crossfit at lunch today.

8 minutes on the air bike, 30 secs doing 35kph speed, 30 secs doing 29kph speed for the warm up. Then 15 minutes of 8 clean and jerks, then 10 burpees over the bar, non stop. Then a 1.5 mile run to cool down.
