As far as the metropolitan elite are concerned, if it's outside the M25, it's northern. No such thing as the East or Midlands.

I have to say, I am impressed with the straight line across the border. I can never manage that with snipping tools.

    Oi.

Doesn't seem like an Anti-Corbyn cabinet to me as some want to paint it.

From a disinterested perspective, I'm not sure putting Thornberry and Lammy, two arch-remainers in a cabinet already headed by an arch-remainer, is a wise move.

I think Thornberry anywhere near the front benches is a bad move, she just comes across as aloof, snobbish, and while I agree with what she says sometimes, the way she delivers it is normally in a patronizing and condescending manner. She should be kept well away from the public eye, she just doesn't have that natural ability to connect with people.

The tweet of the white van with an English van summed her up really, while she probably meant no malice at the time, it just showed a lack of understanding of the situation of people from different backgrounds.

I would have preferred either Trickett, Gardiner, or Lavery to have remained in the cabinet, at the expense of one of those two. I think Starmer is right to put his own stamp on it, and bringing in new faces, and a rejuvenated Ed Miliband are good appointments. However, another Northern voice in there might have given it a tad more balance, and another MP who is better placed to connect with the voters Thornburry and Lammy are unable to.
